Oh ok. What lift kit does he have on it? I have a 2 inch spacer up front

 

Maxtrack 3 inch front and 2 inch rear.

One thing we found out I forgot to mention is that the front spindles widen the track a couple inches requiring us to add 1.25 inch wheel spacers in the rear. The poke looked perfect and it sits perfectly level.

I picked up a tailgate lock. Thought it might be a good idea since I have $1000 deductible. Added a bedside decal. Next is a more aggressive tire.

 

What would be the best lift kit plus tire combo for a 2018 SR 2wd?

4. Are you keeping the stock wheels?
5. If not, how big are the new wheels going to be?

 

1. either leveling kit or 3 inch lift
2.less than 1000 lol
4. want to run 285s

 

Let me rephrase the first question since I goofed it up:

1. What do you want to do with your lifted truck*?

3in lift for under $1k isnt gonna be realistically done well.

285's are gonna probably need a cab mount chop depending on your answer to number 4, since you mis numbered your response to number 5.

 

SR fellas without fender flares, noticed that it’s just painted metal on the underside of the lip of the fender. Does it get pitted up by your tires throwing rocks and grit at em?

I've been trying to tell the difference between the normal SR headlights and the SX black headlights. Is it just the little part on the side by the orange reflector that's black?

Correct, it's basically the SR5 headlight. The SX package is a partsbin special thats worth it for the $500+ it costs. Adding fenders to an SR is about $400 alone in parts.

EDIT: And making the DCSB guys jealous is priceless.

I've been checking this thread out for about two years. I have a 2017 Tacoma SR. I love it. I haven't made any significant upgrades. I added fog lights with a little switch off the dash and added cruise control. This is a 4 cylinder 4x4 automatic.

Over the last year I tracked my mileage and refueling to gather the fuel efficiency. Over the course of 37 refuelings, I'm getting 20.6372 miles to the gallon. This is mostly left coast city driving.

I would like to get manual locking hubs, but they don't make them for this configuration, yet. That would probably help with the fuel efficiency quite a lot.

I wanted the six cylinder, but they had the four on the lot, so I wheeled and dealed and drove it home. I actually like it. I think it's pretty adequate for my use, and, being simpler, may be better for me in the long run.

When the tires get old, I want to upgrade them. Sometimes driving on desert lake bed dust I can feel them slip a lot and I believe better tires would help, though my fuel economy would probably deteriorate. Also, I am thinking about adding a 12V plug to the bed so I can run various accessories while camping, such as a small cooler.

The soft topper is kept on her only while camping.

All in all, I think this is a great truck. The access cab is uncomfortable, but allows me to have a full bed and still carry the kids, a good compromise for me. I added a center seat belt, so I can carry five, plus the dog in the back. The kids lover rolling through the desert in the back of the truck with the dog. It gives my wife and I some precious quiet time.
