Okay. Ill be in touch. Having an extra set of hands is always good, might want to leave your Tacoma at the edge of the playa though.

I would love to go out and watch this clusterfuck this weekend. What’s the trail out to black rock springs like? I’ve never taken the trail from soldier meadows out there. Only gone as far up as double from black rock.

Bring a lot of extra fuel in case you're stuck in line w/ all the other folks there to watch the recovery on Saturday.

Also a hub tent and a spotting scope with a couple of 20lbs propane tanks for a mr buddy heater would be g2g.

Id expect muddy but passable. It was pretty rough, dry, in the cruiser. But that was a couple years ago.

I fucking hope theres not a bunch of spectators out there. Not to say don’t come dude, youre totally welcome to ride out from black rock hot with me if you want. I just hope theres not a ton of randos clogging shit up. These two different fb groups already piss me off with their bickering. Not looking forward to that clusterfuck. Fortunately it sounds like I have a group of friends with solid rigs and gear rolling with.

Anyway, not to get all ranty. I’m down with any of ya’ll coming out. Not that my approval means anything anyway hah

I’m pretty sure I’m not going to. That’s way too far to drive to watch some shenanigans and I’m still getting mud off my truck from going to Trego on Sunday. Maybe I’ll just drive out to 12 mile and put the drone up lol. It will probably be a party at Bruno’s after.

Orrrr if the weather is decent I could throw the bike on the back and do some recon with it.

Sounds like you've got plenty of help. If you could use the extra traction boards just let me know.

Too many to list, and I've probably forgotten a bunch.
I spent a lot of time pondering this last night. If you can't get a BFT with a BFW (Big F'ing Truck with a Big F'ing Winch) out there, then you can engineer a system of ropes and pulleys.

Anchor: a rig > 7000lb GVW, 2 double pulleys, a single pulley, some 8-9mm prussik loops, and a static line (<2% elongation) that can handle the forces involved (so probably 1/2" USAR rope, or better).

Rig up a set of 4's with the 2 double pulleys. Anchor the single pulley to the stuck rig. The line through the single pulley is tied off to the anchor rig, runs out to the pulley, and then back towards the anchor rig (but not tied off).

Prussik the 9:1, one double pulley to each 'side' of the main line. Note, if the prussiks slip, stop, get some slack in the main line and tie in directional figure-8's - then biner/shack the set of 4's to the loops.

Get 10-12 people and pull on the loose end of the rope on the set of 4's. Or put a double figure-8 loop in the loose end of the set of 4's and shackle that to a winch.

Clear the fuck out, take cover, and activate the winch. If nothing snaps or breaks, you'll get 10-15 feet of 9:1 mechanical advantage with the set of 4's. Repeat until the 4Runner is out of the muck.

If that won't do, build a 3:1 out of the main line (z-rig) and on the haul end of that, attach the 5:1 end of the set of 4's and try 15:1. If THAT won't work set up the 9:1, then set up a 3:1 on the free end of THAT and try 27:1.

All my gear is TRT/SAR, though and I don't think the ratings will meet the required level of abuse. But if someone works for a crane rigging outfit, they'd have all the pulleys and shackles n' junk you'd need. Also if using a static line, I'd consider this use a 'fall event' and retire the line as unfit for life-safety use.

That’s what I said. Find someone with a deuce or 5 ton and it can pull it out no problem. Skid steer would work too but is probably impossible to get to that location.

Not sure why everyone wants to mess around with Jeeps and half ton trucks.

    @kceastsparks borrow TMWA’s deuce for a day :D

Prolly cause it's what's more or less readily available, resource-wise. It's sort of a mixed bag for me. I'm all about taking the time to get the right tool, the first time. But that's just not always possible. So, you're going to Mickey Mouse that shit until you either 1) succeed, 2) break more stuff, or 3) hurt/kill someone.

I did sort of like the idea of using a team of horses from a local ranch, though. Not so much because I find it a superior solution over all others, but because I think it would be interesting to see a skilled person handle a team of animals like that to get the job done (and maybe I'd learn something along the way).

They can't just yank it out without getting it on top of the mud first. There's a significant amount of suction that will break shit quick.
