Sykes shifts into a lower gear in a fit of rage and tears the gear selector clean off; Those blasted Disney animators overlooked “Park”...

 

Sykes buries the accelerator; Can you imagine if this thing had 4-on-floor?!?!

Sykes is described as a shipyard agent and loan shark with implied mafia connections (unusually dark by Disney standards at the time), so he probably started out as a union truck driver or something and more than likely knows how to drive a stick shift as a result...

When he floors it, he shreds both rear tires in an epic burnout on the electrified subway tracks; Here the left rear wheel can be seen spinning (If it had an open rear, the left wheel would remain stationary)...

The fact that Sykes has totally lost his mind (aside from the fact that he's gunning down a subway tunnel with a 7-year old girl on the hood) becomes apparent when he begins to completely trash his car without a care in the world; Here, he punches through the window with a bare fist...

 

Oliver bites Sykes on the knuckle in an attempt to save Jenny, and ends up getting flung into the car’s backseat...

 

And I’m telling you son, well it ain’t no fun, starin’ straight down a Doberman...

 

Only Lincolns (and I think certain Ford and Mercury vehicles) had those distinct opera windows...

 

Roscoe and Desoto (the Dobermans) were both killed after falling off of the car and onto the third rail; Sykes is killed instantly and his car is utterly obliterated after hitting a speeding subway train head on, probably less than a minute after this scene...
