After reading extensively, and your words included, the race seems to be who can put this kit out before Toyota does in the next gen tundra. Yours will be more extensively custom tuned for maximum gains whereas I’d think Toyota, for longevity reasons, would have a tuned down version.

The point of this statement is, other than to be first to have it, what are the differences from your kit in development vs the kit Toyota would come out with including your custom tuning touches? I don’t mean this in a condescending way but in literal terms this is what I’m envisioning as possibilities. One would be your kit which would obviously be rigorously fine tuned for power but is it possible the Toyota oem version would be potentially just as good by adding the custom tuning? Then the question could it be ported to the Tacoma with oem parts and your tuning. I just can’t help but think ahead of best financial purchase (when available) without having regrets down the road for being trigger happy.

Also would like some more info on the dump tubes you sold along with the tuning. Is this what’s cranking up the Tacoma on your dyno pics of 385 hp? Whatever is going on there would be quite nice to have an early jump on if it’s available for consumers now or in near future. Thanks for reading.

Toyota does not make turbo kits. They make engines, drivetrains, vehicles.
the engine coming in the next gen Tundra is not comparable to what we are doing, and toyota is never going to release a twin turbo tacoma.

swapping the new engine into this truck also isnt going to be feasible, at least not for a long time.

There is no toyota OEM version.

Toyotas 3.5L twin turbo engine is completely different than the one in our tacoma

Ahhh ok. I’ve just spent days upon days reading so may have misunderstood. Believe you said Toyota would put our 3.5 in the tundra with a twin turbo setup and we’d get a 2.4l turbo in the Tacoma. I was just assuming the 3.5 would be same engine just added goodies.

Thanks for the update. If ever the turbo comes around and if you’re willing I’d be glad to purchase and drive to where you’re located for install and testing :). You could keep the truck for own testing as I have spare vehicles anyway!

Well, I mean...We have 3rd Gen Tacomas. What the new Tundra will have doesn't really help us. It's kind of like if your grandmother were up on the roof with her dress over her head and your whole family starts telling you about your great aunt Ida's new breast implants. I mean, Aunt Ida's fancy new knockers are probably pretty cool but Grandma's still on the roof traumatizing the neighborhood kids with her decrepit beave. Right?

I am leaning this directions vs. the SC route, but have a question.

Has anyone had any thoughts about positioning the Intercooler so that SSO slimline bumper and winch will also work with this setup?

    Thanks!

Also, do you know if this kit will work ok with a Flowmaster aftermarket exhaust?

The intercooler can be moved fairly easily, you'll just have to figure out the mounting and hoses.

Will work with practically any exhaust that mounts to factory downpipes

Thanks. I was wondering if I could move it higher up if it would interfere with the radiator's cooling.

Doesn't matter where as long as it's in front of the radiator, not behind. So long as there's good airflow

I've been in the market for a while for one.

I may grab this 19 pro MT from Texas. Depends. I hate buying cars sight unseen.

Same. It's even more of a pain when you are looking specifically for an MT since there aren't that many around.

    In Austin I think.
looks like it's already gone. bleh.

    I will find one eventually.

Anyways Turbo kit update next weekend. Dyno results, tune info, release date hopefully.
I've done all sorts of crazy tests to ensure reliability and safety.
Driving off from cold dead start right into boost - check
Driving off from cold dead start and flooring it - check (don't do this please)
Testing boost at 6000 RPM, 6500 RPM, 6900 RPM - Check
Letting the truck idle for 30 minutes untouched, checking for engine bay temps - check
driving hard and checking engine bay temps - check
10,20, 50, mile commutes checking temps - check

Honestly and surprisingly, the engine bay doesn't really get that hot. The heat shielding does an amazing job.

The last things to do are :
    - dyno tests
    - fine tuning
    - much more complex off road testing.

    Merry Christmas!
