yes that’s generally been true of any truck besides Toyota. But Toyota has let me down twice in a row which is why I left. But I was simply talking interiors not reliability.

Hey man, glad you got a truck you think you will like. Good luck with it, seriously... Just not sure why you are trying to justify your purchase of a Ford on a Tacoma forum... Are you in need of some attention or something? Do you really think you are going to sway another Tacoma owner to go trade theirs in for a Ford? I am trying to figure out if your whole thread is just to troll or if you have some actual input that would benefit Tacoma World.

True but it is difficult to not consider the reliability since Toyota can also boost the interiors if they cut the cost of reliability. I mean Toyota can make a truck version of land cruiser but it would cost $70-80k. Or Ram could probably make their trucks much more reliable, but that would cost 70-80k as well.

My uncle put it best. You can add bells and whistles it’s hard to add reliability for the same $$

you do realize this topic is about Ranger sales right? I’m a huge Toyota fan and always will be. I thought I’d give my input and update especially as time goes by. Let’s see how reliable this truck really is.

Exactly, more equipment/components you add, more potential stuff there is to malfunction and/or break down. So you need even more quality assurance, build quality, design and engineering. It can be done as shown by cars/trucks like land cruisers, rubicon, g-waggon, some land rovers, etc. But it cannot be done with a price being one of the main considerations.

In all honesty I’m curious. The old Ranger was cheap and meant to be disposable buy lasted. The new ones is same price as Tacoma so the result is a mystery.

ya that’s the issue. Ranger has no chance if price is the same as the Tacoma. But when they have year end sales that are 7-10k off it’s hard to pass up. Which is why I decided to give it a try.

Don’t get me wrong. I love ford because I love carol Shelby. But I love N/A if I was gonna get a f150 it would be a 5.0 if I was going to get a stang it would be a 5.0.. I hope the Ranger is reliable because I respect ford. But now that I finally gave in to my uncle (Toyota service manager) I will never go back.
I own a Tacoma my next toy will be a FJ Cruiser. And probably get a f250 tremor for towing eventually.

I think mpg is one of the reasons. Plus 2019 and 2016 Tacoma’s are pretty much the same, so some people were probably not very enthusiastic about buying a new 2019. Let’s see how 2020 Tacoma performs with the faceup.

Ah, so it should be on its 3rd or 4th frame by the time it gets to them.

Yep but you seem to have taken it to heart, like it is personal that is all. I still like Ford, I like Toyota, I am not much of a brand loyalist more of a Reliable-ist... if it is reliable then I will get it, unfortunately that is not Ford and as Ranger is new to America it has yet to show it can overcome Fords ability to make unreliable vehicles. (Again, personal/family experience over 30 years of Fords).

The 5.0 Coyote engine is rock solid in reliability. I was on the fence between that and the 2.7L Twin Turbo when I got my Lariat.
