Bummer on the fishing. Never did get into that. I guess I'll check out the rifle range at Shooters World. I need to sight in the laser on my pistol @25 yrds, the reflex sight on my shotgun to 25 yrds, and my AR 100 yrds (scope) and 50 yrds (reflex sight). Right now they are offering a Christmas deal, ten visits for $75 and I think it works for both the rifle and pistol range. I just need to find a box of 12ga slugs.

BTW, I still have two 100 rnd boxes of Winchester Western cheapo ammo, so I could put my hand loads in there to go stealth.

 

I still haven’t shot my AR I built a couple months ago lol

Just got back from Mississippi hunting the Delta. Saw a ton of deer but no shooters. They have strict regulations of either a 18 inch beam or width of 15 1/4. We ended up passing on a few 8 points as they were a little smaller probably due to the bad flood they had in the Delta this year and lack of nutrients.

 

You guys ever go to Dade city rod and gun club?

 

Getting closer got the stronger pistons and new rod bearings in. The next couple of days I'll be hopefully putting the heads back together. My goal is to have the engine back together by the end of the year. That's just bolted back together then the wiring is a whole another hurdle.

 

Speaking about hunting, anyone have any knowledge of WMAs, leases, hunting clubs in Fl? I don't expect much in S. Florida (Corbett is dangerous) but if I can find some land in central Fl or even on the west coast I would be in.

 

Archery ,general gun, This time of year we hunt allapattah flats with a shotgun for hogs.

 

I've never been. Is it a good range?

 

I am primarily general gun but have bow hunted a fair amount in the past. I only still hunt for deer, hog, and turkey.

 

I’ve been a few times now. Took my 9 year old son the last time and the staff was great with him. I’ll be going back.

 

I never turkey hunted but i have seen a lot at three lakes wma near kenansville. Deer hunting is hard on wma a lot of people and regulations. Since your south Id try dinner island ranch and Ok slew. Allapattah flatts has great hunting but its hard to pull a permit.

Had a bunch more failure to fires today. All 5.56 ammo, ran perfect with .223. It is possible I installed the hammer spring backwards and it's just not hitting the harder military primer hard enough to light them off.

I'll check the stock trigger out tonight when I break them down for a cleaning. I also ordered a Larue tactical trigger. I'll check the firing pin and channel for issues or debry too.

The Dade city range was okay. Nice staff, but I prefer the Hernando Sportsman club for outdoors.

If you go to Dade its cash only.

 

I have heard the WMAs around here can get pretty chaotic. Ideally a buddy and myself can find a hunting camp in the center part of the state to cure my hunting fix for next year. I still do a yearly week in MS but now I have a son getting about the right age to go in the woods.

 

Hunting camps if you are referring to a lease it can run from 1500 and up . You can take advantage of youth hunts and family hunts

 

Depending on the quality I'm ok paying 1500. I am not looking for wall hangers but some shootable bucks and action to get the little one bit by the hunting bug.
