When I make Bluetooth phone calls, whoever I am calling always complains that there is a delay and that the audio quality sucks. Any way I can fix this?

The Tacoma microphone is near the overhead map lights. Try talking in that direction (while safely keeping your eyes on the road). Also try to turn the speaker volume as low as possible and see if that helps. The cell phone microphone may be picking up sound too. Make sure your phone is not near the Tacoma speakers.

Thanks for the comments but I really want to upgrade the microphone itself. It is possible?

It's possible. Theres a few threads floating around with people trying it. Most people are trying to keep OEM microphone and wire into aftermarket HU though. Find out the wiring for oem mic, remove it and splice into an aftermarket. Good luck, have fun. Don't think you'll see much improvement, though.

Also make sure the AC vents are pointed away from microphone.

Word has it that if you speak too closely into the mic on the 3rd gen you can hear the legendary Mike Sweers himself talking about the tougher, more reinforced metal which he promised the 3rd gens would have.
