Gotta say the HDR thing could go or at least be less used...otherwise; carry on as you're doing a great job.

Don't stop doing it. Just don't over-cook everything. I personally think those you can't really be sure are HDR are the best. Once and a while, the over-cooked thing is nice (an example is your truck in the parking garage). And sometimes landscapes.

yeah in reality i only have been doing HDR for like 3 weeks. so i wanted to see what the boundaries are and see what its capable of doing. now that i know so (sorta) ...i think i can start doing better hdr's

Plus, you do the same thing in layers. If you use a tripod, shoot for the areas you want in the final product then use layer masks to expose things.

This is an example of that. It's two separate shots with the foreground masked.

That shot is two shots. One is exposed for the very bright sun/sky and the other for the grass in the foreground. Then I open both in Photoshop layers.

For this particular shot, I used quick mask mode to create a gradient mask for the grass then erase and bingo! Since the two shots are framed almost exactly (the grass moves), the layer mask exposes just the grass with a little bit of a feather.

I used a brush to mask and lighten a couple of other areas too.

Take a look through this thread and tell me if you see another that might have been made the same way.

What's so cool about this is it literally takes two minutes once you're done shooting.
