I have played golf a bit here and there my entire life but now with me working in the corporate world more I really see that a majority of my bosses play golf so I really want to get back into it so that I can play with them. I currently just have a cheap seat but I really want to start building a nice set. Please post your pictures/information on clubs you have or have used. I really want to know what some of the top products are out there!

PING.... best clubs out there. They were the first company to custom fit the club to your size and swing. They hold their value well. You cannot go wrong with PING.... plus unlike Taylomade your clubs are not outdated after six months. TM puts out new clubs twice a year...

I still have all my r7's from a few years ago. I hate all the new adjustable things on the drivers and woods. Just creates problems and it eventually breaks faster.

I love my Taylormade R5 Irons...I bought them a few years ago for $800. I also have an R5 driver and some hybrids...but I've always been partial to King Cobra drivers. My dad bought a set of Diablo Edge Irons and a Cobra driver, and it is a sweet set up, but pricey.

I'm not brand loyal, so I have a mixed bag. I have a TaylorMade R7 Limited (Stiff shaft) for a driver and Callaway Big Bertha Fusion irons. I absolutely love both of them. I still need to update my fairway woods, sand wedge, and putter. My advice is to hit all of them and see what works for you. A place like Dick's should have an indoor area for you to hit in. I compared the Callaways to Ping, Nike, TaylorMade, and Adams irons, and for me, they felt the best.

One thing about golf clubs is it really doesn't matter how "new" your clubs are unless you're just trying to show off. If your clubs work for you, then they work.

I have Callaway Steelhead irons with steel shafts circa 2001 and I really like the stiffness of them; that's what she said! I have a Ping Tsi Tech driver (titanium) and it kicks ass! You wanna hit a "long ball" then get one! If I were buying my irons all over again I would probably go with Ping over Callaway but either way it is quality. Also... Buying new is over rated and unnecessary. Some guys change clubs more often than underwear and u can get a relatively new set significantly cheaper. Just get new grips and u are good to go!!!

I would also stick to steel shafts for irons, and graphite only for woods and drivers.

For me I have an 09 burner for my driver, titleist 909F3 three wood, taylormade r7 cgb hybrid, taylormade r7 tp irons, titleist vokey wedges, and Scotty Cameron putter. Just a mix up of different clubs but they all work for me. :D

I was speaking in re-sale terms... I'm still gaming a set of PING S-58 irons that are five years old. Carry a 1 handicap.

If you are considering Ebay - be very careful. Bought a set of Titleist AP2's, looked great, discovered they were counterfeit. Paid w/Paypal so got money back.

I have Mizuno MP-60 irons that I play right now. For the fairway woods I have your edge exotics and a Sasquatch driver. I replaced my set of ping i3 irons that were beast! Haven't won a single tournament since I got my Mizunos...

Steel shafts will provide better accuracy while graphite shafts "might" provide a little more distance. My irons (TaylorMade) are steel shafted and my woods, also TaylorMade, are graphite. Any brand is good, i.e., TaylorMade, Callaway, Ping, Mizuno, Titleist, Cobra, Adams, etc.

If you have a Dick's Sporting Goods in your area find out if they have a PGA professional who can "fit" you to some clubs. You can go in, try different brands, shafts, etc. He/she will measure different things like swing speed, launch angle, etc. and be able to recommend the best clubs for you based on the results of the above analysis. It's important to match the shaft flex with your swing speed and accuracy.

Another suggestion is to buy new clubs but buy last year or the year before's models. You will get them at half of what the 2010 models sell for.
