Grrrr I hate open car doors in parking lots

So I was doing some routine banking and when I left the bank to drive home, some lady had left her drivers rear door open to the point where is was pretty much touching my rear fender. She was on the other side of her car putting her kids in their seats but failed to close the opposite door in the meantime. I didn't see her door open as I just got in my drivers side and proceeded to drive forward when I heard the crunching...I stopped, got out and saw her door completely wedged into the side of my truck. Man, I was pissed. Truck is in the shop getting repaired....get it back this Monday, I just hope I'm not stuck driving a Bondo Truck...

you WILL have some filler on the bed..Depending on the body shop, if its any reputable shop, they will pull the dents out the best they can then put a light skim coat over it to make it smooth.

 

Her rear door was bent to 90 degrees, F^%Ked up pretty bad to the point where it wouldn't close.

 

I'm not sure how it is going to work, we both went through our insurance companys, the Police wouldn't file a report because they said it was on private property. My insurance company told me that I am 100% not at fault and that they were going to contact her insurance company. So, I haven't heard anything back on that yet.

 

That sucks! I know it won't be perfect but .... I'm sure it will look OK after it's been painted.

well if its her fault tell them you want a whole new bed! my co-worker got rear ended very lightly. it fucked up the bumper and barely damaged the bed and bent his exhaust. he said he wanted a whole new bed, bumper, and exhaust painted. and he got it. at the lady's expense!

 

Looks like the panel is just bend, not creased. The plastic fender will have to be replaced FYI.

Ask me how I know...

 

Some douchbag put a nice 3'' gash in my bedside the other day with his grillguard as he was trying to park next to me.

 

Time for a new 2011!

 

They will probably put a new bedside on it, just a few bolts to remove it. Also going to have to blend paint into the rear door.

I would say if you pulled away without looking while a lady was loading her car, you f'ed up. Cover your own ass in the future and take one second to look in your mirror.

 

bummer each of your companies will probably pay for their clients repairs exactly the reason i park way out lol need the excercise anyway

 

I beg to differ, there's a reason why they say people who leave their doors open in parking lots are at fault If I saw her loading her car on her passenger side, why should I check to make sure HER drivers doors are left open?

Blame who ever you want, if you didn't drive off, your truck would not be damaged.

 

TBH I fail to see how it's not your fault. Not to be a dick but, you were in control of your vehicle, the other vehicle was parked. The fact she was an inconsiderate d-bag like most people these days is sorta irrelevant in this matter. However, it's good for your sake your insurance is backing you, good luck

 

People have to drive off, if not they would never go anywhere. I'm sure everytime you leave a parking lot you dont' check both mirrors, blind spots, under each tire for small animals, etc...etc...etc. Anyways, thats my opinion.
