nah bro you won’t rub with those aftermarket wheels, i have a 3” lift with 33s and i never rubbed. my other two tacoma’s got lifted and 1 mildly rubbed but that was bc of the backspacing on my wheels.

he won’t rub with 33’s as long as he sticks to a 0 or negative backspacing for wheels

I think his best bet would be going with smaller tires especially since he’s new to this type of thing and like other users said he still may have issues. Not to mention that rubbing depends on tread wear and tire type as well.

Think cars. Think about rough country being the 2001 Pontiac minivan of lift kits, now think of sky jacker being the 2004 Hyundai Elantra of lift kits.

Now think of bilstein being the 2008 Toyota Tacoma of lift kits. Not the most fancy and expensive truck, but is super reliable and really fun to drive.

And then also imagine king being the Toyota Supra of lift kits, great and super fun to drive and looks badass.

Hope this explains it well haha

get the bilstein bc it has an adjustable c clip setting u can raise or lower (if u got a coil press/ can rent one) and you’ll clear 33’s just fine. IMO i think billsteins still suck compared to kings/fox/SA . but i got the bilsteins when i was ur age a couple years ago and it did it’s job. i wouldn’t get anything cheaper than billsteins.

The 5100s are fine if you leave them set to 0 and pair them with the right coil springs to get the lift you want. Adjusting the 5100s for lift with stock springs is cheaper because you aren't buying new springs but the ride is worse

they’re fine set at 0 IF he gets those eibach 3” coils but he can also save some money by using the old coils at the highest setting and in a couple months when he gets more money he can get new coils

Skyjacker kit is a waste of money man, I totally understand how excited you probably are to get those wheels on and don't care right now... But you will end up spending more money down the line getting something you want instead of settling for something cheap.

I'd recommend Bilstein 5100's and an add a leaf as others have mentioned.

I would agree Kings are better but in my opinion only of you offroad your truck. The 5100s with 881 springs I had before actually rode way smoother on the street than my Kings do, thanks to the 600# springs that the Kings come with and the fact that you have to preload them to get lift out of them.

But...offroad is where the Kings and other rebuildable performance coilovers shine over 5100s.

Or considering you're 16, save the money so you have something to fall back on in case any problems arise with the truck instead of blowing it all but thats just me...

true, but he just got his liscence and he’s 16 so bilsteins would be perfect because i didn’t start upgrading my bilsteins until after high school . strongly recommend the bilsteins and eibach coils.

also ur truck looks familiar, did u ever go to one of those pismo camp out meets in the 805?

I went to a big Tacomaworld Pismo meetup back in 2016 but my truck was pretty different back then lol. I've been there a few times since but not with a large group

Honestly, if you can’t afford the adjustable Bilsteins , wait a little longer till you have enough for it bc that setup is perfect for you to mess around with while in highschool and you will get your money’s worth out of it. Learn from everyone’s mistakes on here and font get a skyjacker or rough country lift. and pls don’t ever to a drop bracket lift.

And yeah at 16 I would not be blowing big hard earned money on Kings, 5100s are just fine.
