Frankly, I think they should give full refunds to people that want them, regardless of how long they've owned the lights.

Agreed. The right thing to do is refund and fix it the right way...This whole thing is very strange to me. I dont know how their lawyers haven't blown a gasket. Also...did BD ever release independent testing on their fix?

I've had a few nights with the yellow SS3 pro fogs now. While I haven't driven through any inclement weather yet, I've gotten a sense of how WIDE these lights shine. From a driver's perspective, they light up the foreground from A-pillar to A-pillar. I actually have to lean forward to see the left and right edges of the pattern. Driving down the center of the freeway, they fully light up the next lane on either side almost immediately in front of my field of view. It's like driving between two cars with their headlights on. And the next lane over is lit up as well, just further forward and about half the brightness. And the barriers on each side of the freeway also catch light. They are very wide, and very bright.

How is the cutoff/glare upwards? Just ordered a pair based on their pictures and diagrams. Sounds like the guys with the BD fix still have significant light thrown up.

So far i've had the following started with LEDs in stock fogs (replaced them very fast), morimoto fogs & OEM TRD Pro's. The DD SS3 has a nice cutoff and so far the best foglight ive owned to date.

I notice a tiny amount of spill when pulled up to a wall, but it's negligible. I actually notice more light reflecting off of the ground when it's wet outside- that might create more errant glare than the lights themselves. But the pattern itself is very controlled.

They have not to my knowledge, but their claims in uplight reduction match the numbers I have to get the uplight just barely under the legal limit. Keep in mind their design is to intentionally produce the legal maximum for glare, so even with the fix it is going to have far more glare than any of the other fogs. With their optic design, this also means the actual fog region is also going to have low intensity output, as raising the intensity in the fog region also raises that glare, unless they completely redesign the optic.

So with the change, the actual usefulness as a fog will not be fully realized? It will serve more as a flood mounted in the fog position?

The change reduces uplight by a claimed 33%, bringing it down just under the legal max. The heart of the beam pattern is unchanged. Unfortunately due to the insert design, the width of the beam pattern is also reduced as collateral damage. Maximizing uplight is not ideal in a fog light. It isn’t a flood light, but doesn’t have the ideal characteristics of a good fog light.

What crashnburn is trying it say nicely is they suck, they don’t do one task good
And the intended task is mediocre at best. Sucks but the more people that boycott BDs sae lights the better off it’ll be in the long run. I’m a big Baja Designs fan but won’t stand behind this product.

Exactly! :fingerscrossed: Hopefully they either fix it right or stay out of the road legal light game.

    Installed The KC G4‘s today.

They are really impressive, can’t wait for some rain or fog to see how they perform!

Cool man. I installed my ambers about a week ago and havent had "severe" fog or anything, but have used them in some rain and light fog and they definitely do a good job. They definitely cover more area than my morimoto fogs did (which @crashnburn80 aalready proved in his awesome research). May not put out more light than the new selective yellow fogs, but they do perfectly fine for my needs.

You fuckers cost me $256, haha, jk thanks for actually saving me money on some much needed fog lights. I've got some SS3 pro fogs in yellow on the way. Now, I just have to buy all the other OEM parts to get them wired up

At least you only have one set of buckets to fill, I had to buy 2 sets of pros!

No, I’m way outside my 30 days. I’d imagine they wouldn’t take them back since it would set precedence and I’m sure I’m not the only one that regrets buying these. I was hoping they would have an actual fix not just a bandaid because I really wanted to like them.
