OE 18-19 don't come with the center piece. Mine and several that I've seen didn't have them.

Exactly!! That’s what I’ve seen too. It doesn’t make any sense for the 18/19 to have “a matching piece that clips in in case you don’t need the garnish” because if you have an 18/19 you DO need the garnish as far as TSS is concerned.

The TSS sensor is behind the Toyota emblem on your stock grille.

It will fit, you just move sensor to new position on pro grille. Some use garnish, some don't ( no codes/light's) There is plenty of write-ups here and you can google search it (you tube vids) Big thing is to disconnect battery, before any electrical work on these trucks, their very sensitive.

Yes, you’ll need the garnish even if you purchase the 2017 grille. Some people say it works fine without it but without it, you leave the sensor exposed and a greater chance of water intrusion. (See millimeter wave radar service campaign details)

And don't forget an extension harness for the radar relocation, if you want it to look factory.

Even though the stock harness (OR/Sport) will work, the Pro’s harness makes for a cleaner looking install because it follows the lines of the grille perfectly... plus it’s not very expensive.

the 18/19 still fits on the 16/17 so you need that clip on piece otherwise you have a gaping hole in your grill. if the garnish was mandatory for the 18/19's then why don't they just sell it as a set instead of selling you a grill with a missing chunk out of it?

Because they can charge extra for it?... the garnish is mandatory due to the TSS sensor. If you don’t use it, it can potentially cause issues. Additionally, there was no pro in 2016, it’ll fit on a 16 but it didn’t exist in 16.

I got my oem grill from lower Toyota with the garnish and shipping for about 275, no codes or screwing around to make it fit
