Last year we spent two months driving 'round Australia...well, a part of it....it is indeed a really big country.

Loved it...loved the people - kind, friendly, helpful, cheerful and funny, and not yet as crippled by political correctness as we are in Canada or America - loved the food, the wilderness and wildlife, the beer, the sun, the oceans...

But pretty much everywhere we went, there was something waiting to bite us or sting us or eat us or all of the above....We stayed in the jungle along the Gold Coast for a week and I had to fight the biggest spider I had ever met each night to use our barbie...in Canada, the spiders run away...this one always wanted to fight....

So...I am sure this picture is real :annoyed:

Little fella just wanted some grog, toss him a gold and he’ll be on his way.

Australia is about mateship. Our country is harder than most and you can get yourself jammed up quick, that’s why we always stop when you’ve pulled over and put the bonnet up. As a people we’re quick to share, and always up for a laugh.

You planning on going back? I’ve got people in the NT and in WA in the Kimberley and would gladly make the connection for you. One of my best childhood mates lives in tribal Arnhem Land and is always good for a flashy tour for polite visitors. I ask because as soon as these fires are out allot of Australian owned businesses are going to need some cash to rebuild out of the ashes and that yankee dollar goes along way for tourists.

I understand the thought processes behind this and yes they are sound on paper, however in practice they will be totally abused and overused. It will be used as another excuse for people to to railroad those that do not fit their social group or their idea of ‘normal’.
I worked with a guy recently that was really a sociopath, and it would not surprise me if I read about him doing something completely nuts like we see going on today. Yet, I do not feel that because I think of him in this way that his actions would be reportable. I think that if you report people that may be on the edge, that interaction may actually be the catalysis for them to act as it would fit their narrative of being the victim...
Just my opinion for what it worth and if you take my opinion and add $10 to it, you might have enough to buy a Starbucks coffee.

    Hey Brother,

Australia reminded me of rural Canada when I was a tyke, as did the helpful and friendly folks, the wilderness, the wildlife (except for the f*&*%$ spiders)....Northern British Columbia has moose and elk and bears that will kill you on the road....Oz has kangeroos and camels and crocs...the blurb I got from the car hire was a laugh...word for word what we give in BC, substitute 'camel' for 'moose'

YES, we are going to go back; we saw, I reckon, but 2/5 of the country....lots more to experience. And my Canadian dollar is pretty much par :canada:

And I a get the wildfire issues...the area I grew up went thru the same thing 2 summers back, with entire towns evacuated...and the businesses suffering as a result.

So, to anyone else reading this....GO. TO. AUSTRALIA. You'll love it.

Merry Christmas...and think what they are doing on the Gold Coast for Christmas...surfing! Me? I'm gonna go scrape the ice off the windshield.

That looked fun. I guess their engineer missed the part about launch stucture clearance. But, I guess thats what happens when you steal designs.
