Did you buy both pairs of fogs, or are you going to run one set of their driving lights or spot lights?

Both sae fogs in yellow and when lenses become available I’ll switch one set to clear to get 4000k that way I’ll have fogs for any condition.

    Just in forward facing light I have a 40” onx6 hi power, 2 XL80s and 2 S1s so I figured I’d just do 4 sae fogs

I think it is important for them to have the feedback, even if they decide not to refund the lights. They sounded open to the possibility of completely redesigning the optic, but it would take a while and they’d likely only do it if people were not happy with the current fix.

Well I for one wouldn't be happy with that shit! If I was buying a light to a certain spec I would expect it to meet that spec and not buy putting in a filter that looks like my 5 yo daughter cut 4 little rectangles in.

Personally I'm glad I didn't buy a set of those!

Well, my BD SAE fogs arrive tomorrow. Unless they come early in the day, it will be next week before I can touch them. But I will post pictures and impressions. I currently have stock fogs and have never had anything but stock. So we shall see.

Well IDK! She told me about a stuffed animal (puppy) that she wanted. When I asked her to describe it to me she drew me this picture.

    Edit; painted the picture

I’m looking at the SS3 fogs in Sport vs Pro. More power is always better, but the pictures on their website show the sport with a more focused beam and cutoff. Would that actually make them a better choice in the yellow fogs than the pro?

Read the reviews on DDs site, one guy that got the yellow sports said they were pretty underwhelming and he regretted not getting the pros.

If anything with yellow there’s less perceived output so I’d think it’s even more important to get the pros if you’re going yellow.

The sports use smaller emitters. With the TIR optics, the smaller emitters have more focus, just like performance halogen bulbs use smaller filaments for greater focus. Greater focus of the sports give sharper cut offs, they meet a more modern F3 fog spec vs the Pros meet the older F spec. Both are street legal in terms of their cut off and the Pros offer greater output intensity. I'm still waiting on mine to review but the Sports spec the same output intensity at 10 meters as the Rigid SAE selective yellows I run, which are great. I'm not sure how one could say that level of intensity is 'underwhelming', unless they really didn't understand what kind of product they were buying. Until the launch of the DD Pros, no product has been able to beat Rigids SAE D-series in intensity and the Sports claim to match it while offering a wider pattern. This is all by specs as I have yet to test them first hand.

Not sure if you mentioned it yet, but do you know when your DD Pros will come in @crashnburn80 ? I ended up purchasing them in amber already and installed on Xmas. Just want to see how they compare to the comp.

Exactly. I wouldn't trust that reviewer either. I have my yellow SS3 sports installed correctly, pointed slightly downwards with the gap and they are quite impressive. Got my first "flash" with them as well. Some mid 90's Corolla didn't like how intense they were apparently. Been running them off now that I have tested them in the dark. Couldn't be happier with the 160$ black friday sale for the yellow sports. Great deal.

I think this is the review you're referring to: he left it under the fog lights but he actually has the floods. The flood lights are meant to be very widely dispersed with low, even intensity. The fogs have the light focused in a much tighter pattern.

Baja Designs has their "wide-cornering" optic which I think pretty much nails the requirements for a ditch light. A 42º pattern is wide enough to disperse over a decently large area, while being focused enough to rely on for cornering at speed. I enjoy my S2 lights, they're a fantastic and compact option here.

The SS3 so far doesn't seem to have a competitive optic in this space. The flood is very widely dispersed for large coverage, but only for low speed and static situations (maybe the pro is better here). The driving and spot optics are fantastic for forward facing, high speed lighting but won't spread much. The fogs are very wide for their intensity but the pattern is short- it's meant exclusively for the fog pattern.

Less than two months of mild use. I took the truck over the pass yesterday and it was very foggy. The lights performed flawlessly, but I noticed condensation had formed inside. I checked this morning and they still have some water droplets on the inside. I've contacted Rigid to see what they say.

im not an expert but i thinkk this is normal. the heat cycling in the cold winter months + wind chill will cause the moisture build up. condensation happens even in headlights, OEM and aftermarket.

it'll burn off if you run your fogs longer. fyi, moisture builds up even after the lights are off.
