Hard to believe this was a legitimate print ad...

Almost forty years later it seems like a comedy bit!

My friend Doug made up his own parody of this song in middle school...

"The cat's in the Chevy on cruise on control, heading downtown to the Super Bowl!"

I have two friends named Doug; One I best friends with for part of 6th grade and all of 7th grade, and who I recently reconnected with when he moved to the Philly area...

The other is another Aspie I've been friends with early 2009; He can be a bit annoying at times...

One time, back in September 2012, a mutual friend did something bad and we disowned him; Doug likened the situation to Schrödinger's cat, and I had no idea what he was talking about. Partially to be funny, and partially to show I didn't give a shit about Schrödinger or his cat, I responded "Isn't Schrödinger that piano-playing kid from Charlie Brown?"

Doug said, in a rather frustrated tone, "No, that's Schroeder."*

*I did not know who Schrödinger was, but I've always been a big fan of Peanuts and I knew exactly who Schroeder was.

We were at Puck, where another friend's band was performing that night; Doug continued to ramble on about Schrödinger until I was forced to take him into my "office" (the cab of the Tacoma, which had been used to haul the band's equipment and was parked right next to where the band was performing) and basically tell him to shut up because he was annoying everybody.

Sadly, he ultimately ended up passing before I could take the planned photo... :(

My first car was one of these...

My parents bought it at Best (remember them?) for like forty bucks ($40); Mine was virtually identical to the one above, except it did not have the white wall tires. It had the the same "lacy" wheels and the same headlight/grille sticker.

The trailer is definitely a nice touch, but I don't understand why they had to replace the traditional front end with the goofy face...

In the early 1990s, the Cozy Coupe was deemed the best-selling car in America, outselling both the Ford Taurus and the Honda Accord!

The front end was revised slightly from the squared-off lights/grille that mine had in the late 1990s or early 2000s, but it still looked better than the Disney's Cars-esque "face" of the current model...

My parents bought my Cozy Coupe in 1991 or 1992; By 1996, when I was 7, I had a Power Wheels Jeep and was outgrowing the Cozy Coupe. We sold it for five bucks at a yard sale, along with my two tricycles (don't know how much we sold the trikes for)...

The Cozy Coupe was first introduced in 1979, and was so iconic by the mid-1990s that a stone age-ified version made an appearance in the The Flintstones live action movie in 1994! I can't find a picture of it at the moment...

The original 1979 version looked virtually identical to mine, except it had all-black wheels...

In about 1993, Little Tikes released a minivan version; Most retailers had all of the foot-powered ride-on toys on the floor for the kids "try before they buy", and I would always seek out the blue minivan when we went to Best, Toys "R" Us, or one of the other stores...

I wanted the minivan so bad, but my parents would not buy it for me because I already had an original Cozy Coupe; These could be found at just about every department store or retailer throughout the 1990s, but they did not sell anywhere near as well as the red-and-yellow original and are apparently quite rare today...

The one in the first photo is missing its "headlight" stickers...
