So fn true here. also its not just people you love and care about, in the beginning, you might be worried about everyone (or at least I was). It was hard to consider what acquaintances (see: workout buddies or other) will think when they find out. Will they recoil? Will they gasp or make faces? Will they dart around avoiding me? Luckily I didnt experience any of these reactions and if I did I dont recall it because I had enough support to not care about those reactions anymore.

At some point it gets easier, but it takes time and support. I remember being so cagey and fearful of what people would think about. A lot of gays (closeted and out) keep their social media locked down because it keeps things private and out of prying eyes. He may not be out to his family or close friends. Sometimes it is easier to test the waters on acquaintances because the risk is lower than with those you care more about, but theres still risk in that.

Agreed with @PackCon show your support even in a small statement or a few words. even a "i hope everythings going alright for you" means a lot. eh, thats my 2 cents.

So I haven’t been quite the same since I got sick. I’ve been dealing with progressive back pain in my back/ribcage area. The last few days its gotten bad. Like it hurts to move and I can’t sleep.
I had to skip the gym on Christmas and today it got to the point where I can’t stand up straight.
Went to the clinic we have at work. Apparently I have costochondritis left behind from my illness. It feels like I was beaten with a tire iron and I can’t breathe.
I’ve been walking around all day hunched over like my nads are in a vice.

She tells me what it is and I ask her “but can I workout through the pain?”
Without missing a beat shes like “you can’t even stand up straight...”
... but can I workout through the pain?

I feel like people just don’t get us guys.

I’m on steroids and muscle relaxers with orders of no heavy lifting for 6 days.
Any one here thinks I’m really taking all that time off?
