I know you said you did not want to go down that ^^ road again - but I'd like to try shifts points about 2250 - 2400 rpm because as you note the low sub 2000 rpm shift points are a dog. Any 2.0 Beta have this for 04B04? Asking for a friend (or two). :amen:

can't recall, has Mat said what the shift point difference is w/ ECT? I run 1.05.1 w/ ECT and I've never
checked but it goes through the gears very well.

Honestly if ever it were possible to swap between various tunes, a tow tune, an eco tune, and a performance tun would be all I can imagine most ever wanting.

I’m with you, but after being tuned since 17 I’ve been mostly on stock (04B04) for nearly a year. I try every file and Mat has always been great to work with, and I respect his work greatly. Makes the truck “fun” to drive, however once Toyota finally “fixed” the major issues in the first few calibrations the truck drives “fine.” When I stopped trying to outsmart the transmission all the time and gave it some time, I now can go days without thinking about the transmission - it never lugs, it holds 5/6 on the highway outside of steep grades and uses the TC more intelligently for bumps of power to pass and whatnot, my misfire count is significantly less stock vs tuned, and I never get weird flares between shifts or anything resembling a harsh shift. Yes I have to put more pedal into it than tuned and it won’t break tires with atrac in like I could with the tune, but it feels smooth and natural - but what we’re asking for would probably be more like asking Mat to start from scratch and that ain’t happening. it’s a good product for a lot of folks - especially when compensating for weight, tires, gears. Final 2.0 will determine whether I have an OG dongle kit up for sale in the future though

I REALLY miss the Tip in from the previous beta. Seems like because too many people complained about the tip in being too aggressive, it was softened in the latest beta. Really hopes 2.0 comes back with the aggressive tip in from the previous beta!

Is anyone else not receiving their registry files ? I didn't realize we could pre email ovtune prior to receiving the dongle. I sent an email on the 23rd and the site says they won't be back until January. I've also pmed Matt. If I do have to wait until January, can I just use another person's laptop but use my dongle ? I have a friend who's local.

I will be doing more emails this weekend.

I've come to realize that some of the pitfalls of the current 1.05 release has come from too much mixed feedback from users here. Instead of doing what I normally do, tune cars, I tuned it the way the community thought it should be. Turns out, as we all know, what one person likes, another hates. And tuning it this way just didn't work the way I expected it to.

With 2.0 final, I went back to the root of how to tune cars. I look at the data, I adjust based on the data, and I write the necessary software patches to make what I feel is the most appropriate changes to the system.

Don't get me wrong though, some feedback received was very thoughtful and very very helpful, but in the general sense, I can understand you guys aren't tuners, and me trying to tune, given feedback from non tuners, it just didn't work out as well as expected.

1.05 is still a great tune, but I know there is some clean up required.

And I do thank everyone who submitted logs, feedback, testing, etc. It really does help. I'm just letting everyone know 2.0 is being built off dyno time, drive time, data, and working the way the software in the ecu is designed. (Like how I mentioned earlier, tuning shifts for a specific rpm is the wrong way to do it.)

1.05 in my opinion is still the best, and was community driven, we wouldn't have got here without it. 2.0 is built doing exactly what I did with the tundra. I did not take any community feedback from "shift testing" I realized and tuned the way the truck needs to be, and I can say without a doubt our transmission tuning and features on the tundra is the best in the world.

With the thousands of pages on just this thread alone I don't even know how you keep your sanity lol. Seems like you've got a great thing going and I personally appreciate how you explain the way you go about things.

That being said, with all the info on here and on your site... I'm still not clear on whether there is a tune for 2020 MT trucks yet?

04B04 4.88 0944 tune file has the best tip in yet. I also like a more aggressive tip in. The second best is the 91 octane beta with the super aggressive tip in. My wife even enjoyed it more and that saying something

I liked the tip in driving around town and the highway, but it became a bit unbearable in stop and go traffic and I'm not even going to attempt it in 4 low off road. I don't know if it's possible but I'd love a softer tip on on the first couple gears and then the on/off switch for the rest. Even better if it could be switched to a more stock tip in on all gears while in low. I'd also like it if it would stay in 3rd for longer than it takes to shift into 4th.

All that being said, I'm glad to hear that he's taking more of a "trust me I'm a professional" approach to the logic in the upcoming 2.0 final. Sometimes a project can be pulled in too many directions and you just need to let the person you hired to do the job do his thing.

How much of the current beta is going to be in the final? It sounds like working on the Tundra resulted in a bit of a revelation and changed your thinking on the Tacoma to the point you started from scratch.

Probably about 30 percent will follow over.
Some torque related, vvt stuff etc.

Significant changes have been made to our current patches, eliminating some things, revising others.

I also did quite a bit of back e nd work for forced induction in 2.0 so it's an easy tune when it is released.

We'll just have to see if 2.0 final is useful for real off-road use. If not, it won't be the end of the world. There appears to be a healthy market for "used" tunes. Hot-switching back to a factory tune for more technical trails would be fine as well.....but I think that concept died.
