Why should I Plastidip the grille surround if I don’t plan on peeling it off ever? I have some primer/paint combo spray paint in Flat Black laying around. Why should I Dip instead? School me

Plastiderp has that matte, flat black finish people seem to like. It also sticks to chrome pretty well. Not sure what brand of paint you’re wanting to work with but that still might be a solid option. Just may need to scuff up the chrome a bit before painting.

I think the spray paint will fade in a few years and end up looking like shit unless you use automotive paint and a clear coat

Quite a few things at this point..
Like others I bought the genuine black bezel part from my dealership. Super easy install, took less than 20 minutes from start to finish for me to do. Got the black lettering inserts from the dealership as well and eventually black badges, seen only in the last picture, barely.

I plasti dipped my chrome nurf bars, more so as an experiment to see if I wanna get them powder coated, which I will but gonna wait till the plasti dip peels bad enough since I'm lazy.

I can't decide if I wanna do anything to my wheels...

A little bit not a lot though it doesn’t bother me. It’s very minor

Also factory SR grille trim is def the way to go. More expensive then dip but you’ll never have to worry about it again.

I have some of that high heat rustoleum in my garage...think I may spray my exhaust tip now!

I swapped to the SR Grille a few months ago. Truck looks a million times better

but I don’t want a clear coat, I want flat black. If that happens, I’ll pull it off and respray it again

I went with the SR bezel replacement but I've seen plastidipped versions that look good too. I like the way it looks and once I decided to embrace the cheese grater instead of going the Pro grille route it just made sense and I don't have to worry about it pealing. Plus I wanted to put more funds towards a skid plate and new wheels and tires.

They've been holding up amazingly, way above expectations. I even go off roading almost every other weekend and sometimes more. The scrapes I've got on them have been minimal and extremely easy to patch up to "new" looking. I'm actually really glad I didn't go the powder coat direction as touch ups wouldn't be as easy.

Here's my truck almost 3 months later:

Haha, personally, I don't hate the chrome or even necessarily dislike it all that much, I just much prefer black ‍
