Reno and surrounding areas: Official spotted, BS, and meets thread

Sorry! Hope that didnt sound directed at anyone here. The facebook groups are an absolute shit show. I was lined up with a group of friends to go Saturday but they decided to go Thursday now. Guess we’ll see. Still might head out there Friday but I wont venture out there without my boys. So itll just be to spectate (fuck it) the herd of Jeeps on 33s heading out there.

 

The biggest thing seemed to be they can’t pull him, they just pull themselves.

Thats where I figured Id sit my rig on waffleboards/maxtrax ,and hilift the runner up on some. I can sink two pullpals behind me with the rear winch and then start winching him off the front.

For fun, here I am where hes stuck almost two years ago to the date.



Honestly, I hoped a Toyota would pull him out, even if its an abortion of a Toyota like mine.

Then again maybe Id just bury my shit too...

 

No reason to be sorry at all. I didn't realize so many people were involved at this point, hopefully most the people that show up are knowledgeable/ helpful. The recovery group I'm on on Facebook seems to be full of people that don't seem to be either of those. Definitely a long haul so very nice of you to head out there and help.

I just hope that they get him out without incident. When there are too many people involved, shit usually gets more complicated than it needs to be.

Yep. When Facebook is involved things again get way more complicated than they need to be. This poor dude is getting a double whammy.

 

If I were that dude I would have kept it quiet and tried to get a ride into Gerlach. For $500 and a tab at Bruno’s one of the locals probably would have been more than happy to help out.

They're meeting in Fernley tonight at 11PM and will proceed to the staging point.

Nor-Cal 4x4 took over for this I think. Wes Wilson, of Nevada 4x4 Rescue, is not going this evening.

 

If anyone wants to link FB shit that’d be cool cause I don’t have it but am curious as to how things are progressing

 

Interesting to do it in the middle of the night unless they think the cold temps will help.

 

It's a shit show. They started a gofundme too (not sure what they intended to use the $1,800 or so that was raised for). I'll share the recovery posts when they come through.

 

Yeah that all annoyed me, suggested multiple times that rather than beg for straps and traction boards to be donated edit:borrowed, go purchase some with that $2200 but no, gonna buy people gas...


Then that whole scam post happened and he deleted it super fast rather than address it, then it all went down hill from there.

Who the fuck starts a gofundme for a recovery of someone else's vehicle??? And then asks to borrow recovery gear from other people.

 

The nevada 4x4 rescue page looks like its been wiped too, like totally different...???

 

1900 - first group (Anthony, Jeff, and Layne) left from auburn ca to reno nv.

2030 - made it to reno. waiting for george to land to pick him up and then will make our way up to Fernley

2225 - food break then headed down. waiting for more bodies.

2245 - off to gerlach NV for one final fuel up

0000 - final stop for gas, down to stuck site

0400 - eyes on vehicle. making game plan

0650 - george’s car is out of its original hole. still winching.
