3rd Gen Tacoma Power Folding Mirrors

Oh yeah don’t worry. I hate depinning connectors. I’m not going to touch that part. I’m routing through the door now. I’m sure I’ll be here for a while.

 

So, the black, black with stripe, green, and white with grey are all wires you have to install into that connector.
This is what it started out looking like

 

That does not look familiar.

 

Hmm. Weird. Mine doesn’t look like that. The connector does. But not the wires.

Also that big connector has the loose wire I need to make four.

I think the connector in my picture, is the one in the background of your picture.

 

I'm still going through my pics. Basically I stated at the lock connector and labeled each one "A","B", so on and then have pictures of where each one ended up on the door.

 

Here is one of the earlier pictures OP posted. it has a pretty good layout to follow. I know the newer kits have that breakout harness. But this may get you what you need.

 

The one you added the wires to...is it the one that also plugs into the mirror switch. See here.

So now I’m just left with this big connector. If it didn’t the loose wire I’d just try it all without it and see what happens. Maybe I will anyway. Just need to make sure I pin my three wires (no longer four) into the right connector.

 

Okay. I watched the video again. I think I think I have wrong harness adapter. The video he plugs the big connector into what looks like the window switch. My window switch is much smaller and I don't have an adapter that goes into it.

correct the one that goes to the mirror switch. sorry, I was going back through some PM's from the time I did my install.
I had a thought too. Does that break out harness go between the connector and the receptacle at the back of the OEM bezel? That's the connector I had to tap to get my ACC. Your kit has the wire already in it.

 

So I either did something wrong somewhere or I do need that gray wire and other harness.

I plugged everything in. Nothing with the mirror works. No folding and no adjustments. I doubt that’s the gray wire only.

 

Man, I got fuckin roasted for wanting these a year or so ago lol

 

you need the white w/grey for the ACC power. the solid black and solid green come in from your mirrors. and the black with white strip comes in from the PNP harness.

 

That’s good to know. I hooked everything up on the driver side and my bsm works, the mirror adjust works on the passenger side but not the driver side.

Problem is with the gray wire I don’t have a harness that works. Maybe I’ll just so live into a wire and connect the gray on my own since I know what the gray does.

 

You also need to make sure you have the crimps and pins facing the right way when you insert them into the connector. There is a keyway in the housing and a small tab on the pin itself. If you have it facing the wrong way, it will start but not seat fully. So, evern though all the wires are there, you wont get an electrical connection and nothing will work. I chased this very electrical gremilin for hours when I did my install.

 

the old kits did a live splice.

 

first, isolate the Master switch connector. It was at the back of the window switch housing. from there Isolate the large white wire in the middle. Yu will have to remove a couple strips of tape to get a good handle.

 

Now get the spare white wire and the splice tap. Tap the lone white wire with silver strip into the large white wire from the master switch.



NOTE: in the background 2 of the wires are in the wrong location in the O1 switch, and the crimps are facing the WRONG way

 

Im pretty sure I did these correctly. I tried a few ways and couldn’t ever get them to seat. I got them to fully seat and click into place. So fingers crossed.

I think this is my only choice now. Hopefully that fixes the issue I have on the driver. I’m pulling apart the passenger side now then I’ll go back to the wiring.
