    Check My Sig.
This is the exact reason I tell people not to use this method. Yes, you can do it. It may be take a good amount of effort depending on how much preload you need but should you is the question.

Sounds like the general consensus for 2.5 EXT ride height should be 21" or less from the center of the lower eyelet to the top of the tophat.

    2 questions:

    Is that correct?

What's the minimum dimension that should be?

I just installed some newer, heavier springs (700#) and would like to make sure I've got both enough down and up travel.

Correct. We install a lot of these and based on the shock travel, that is the max height we like to see them at, without causing issues.

Not really a minimum height. You will be limited on how low you can go

Ok I’m fed up with searching for the correct way to measure the lift I’m getting out of my fox 2.5 dsc coilovers. Can someone help me please?

Do you measure the threads? Or count the threads? Or measure from center of hub to bottom of fender?

I really don’t wanna skim through pages and pages of threads.

If you’re going for how much can lift you got from your coil overs, then you need to have a baseline to compare to. Did you measure hub to fender before the swap? If so, measure again with the new set up and subtract the difference.

If you didn’t measure before, then you’re guesstimate is starting with a before measurement of 20-20.5” stock height. This differs from truck to truck slightly, thus the guesstimate.

As a general rule, do not exceed 23” hub to fender. Assuming your fenders are still stock and not cut.

Also do not exceed 21" from lower shock eyelet to the top of the top hat.

Correct. That is the max length we recommend at ride height.

Hard to find a some what level service around here and it’s flat all over..

Does this look right..trying get 2 -2.5 in of lift.

I’m gonna try again on a flatter surface. As of now.

32” tire. Center should be 16” subtract that from 37” (both are 37” how the measuring stick is laying looks different). 37-16= 21

im also 1.25” of threads.. measured from bottom of collar to top of threads.

counted roughly 19 or 20 threads.

21 inches from bottom to top hat of coilover.

My truck is nose down. Want to level it as much as possible.

If you're at 21" from the top of the top hat to center of lower shock bolt, you're about as tall as you can go. If you increase preload to add lift, you will top out the shock very quickly resulting in a harsh ride. You may need to consider a different rear spring option. What rear leaf/lift are you running?

Pro Comp AAL now. was looking at the icon leaf pack.

I’m planing on getting a bumper and a wench. So I’m guessing my spring will need to be changed to achieve 2-2.5 in of lift?

Im not getting 2” with current set up. And I have nothing up front

youre gonna need new coils. Are you original fox coil? If so, you’ll prob need to jump up to 14” 650# coil to get the lift you want.

    thanks man..

I got my height fixed.. problem was all measurements I was not on a level surface.

21” from center of ring to top of coilover as described by @AccuTune Offroad.. check this like 10 times with my ocd

38” from bottom of tire to top of fender.
About 28 3/4 from center of hub to fender.

thanks for the help @RangerComa and @AccuTune Offroad

    This is driving me nuts..

This is not correct. cdex8357 stated he has no addition weight up front. The coilover as it currently sits, based on the measurements provided, is just about as tall as it can go. Swapping to a heavier, longer spring will not change this fact. A longer or heavier spring will just require less preload to get the height needed. Heavier spring is not ideal at its current stage.

You’re right. I was quoting him based on previous info he posted. As it turns out he wasn’t providing accurate info and didn't know how to measure from the hub to fender correctly. Your method of measuring from bottom eyelet to top of top hat is much more accurate for overall shock performance and health. He still needs to be on level ground tho.
