Yeah totally agree. I honestly had 0 question about my purchase until I got on these forums and all these people kept saying the off road was better blah blah blah. Doubt any of them use the features to begin with. It's pretty childish honestly. I'm not hating on the OR owners who are chill but the ones who are straight up like your truck cant off-road are super childish.

Sorry man there is still some good stuff here and good peeps but it’s definitely changed over the last few years. I’d just unwatch this thread and carry on building / enjoying your dope new truck.

I have a Sport, I wanted a sunroof so I figured it'll be easier to add a locker to a Sport then add a sunroof to an OR. It's a capable 4x4, you dont need lockers to drive offroad.

Put a good set of tires on it and you'd keep up with stock ORs

My last taco was a 4cyl access cab 4x4, with a set of duratracs and lots of skinny pedal, it was amazing what it would do in 2wd!

Good point. I'm happy with my buy now. Im sure 10 or so years from now I'll look back on this thread and be like "I never even came close to needing CC or a rear locker, I'm glad I saved 5k"

All the mods; all the problems
I’m not disagreeing with that but there’s no argument to the fact of being locked will take you further/get you into more problems ;)

Okay dude, you don't need a locker and crawl control to "wheel hard" JFC.
Agreed but there’s no doubt that someone with a locker will be able to do more than someone without. Also being said I and others have done more open/open than others will do locked Fr/rr
Congrats my dude. Happy for ya

If you done everything in your car , then you probably could go anywhere you wanted to go with a 2wd truck. With your 4wd sport you should have no problem doing anything you need. Bottom line off-road is definitely better at what it was built for, but the sport can do what 90% of us need. Amazing where the other 10% take their new trucks.

I agree that the sport is a capable 4X4 but, not that it really matters, my OR came with a sunroof so it is an available option if you want one on an OR :notsure:

You can get a Sunroof in the OR too, the same package that puts it in the Sport is available on the OR for the same exact price.

When I bought my Sport my best buddy felt he needed to "keep up with the Jones's" so 4 months after me he went out and bought a '19 Ford F250 FX4 Offroad. He and I have trailed in some pretty bad areas of Richloam and Green Swamp (he's on Duratrac A/T's and me on my stock Toyo A30 HT's)...I have no problems hanging with him. The only thing that really bothers him is that he has no CD player in the '19...I guess I edged him on that one.

That’s awesome to hear. Most of my friends have fords too. That’s why I’m really not worried about the capability because I know my taco can do anything their trucks can do.

This whole thread turned into a shit show but here was my justification for a Sport over an Off-Road: If my 1996 SR5 with an open diff, Wildpeaks, and some skinny pedal could get me out of everything and I never got stuck then my 2017 Sport with an LSD and Wildpeaks (when I get them on) can get me to where I want to go. Just enjoy what you have. I used to take a lowered F150 offroading with my buddies in their jeeps and I kept up. Was it dumb? Yes. Did I get to where I wanted to go? Yes. Did I get stuck? Yes but a strap could always get me out.

Keep the Sport man, it's plenty capable for what you're looking to do.

Keep what you have and enjoy it while you have it. Learn your truck and see if you need any of the offroad features as time passes. You've already got the Sport and from there you can modify at will. It's your truck, your life, enjoy it.

For what it's worth I bought an offroad because I liked the access cab and thought a locker would be cool to learn to use. I've never had a truck with a locker so it's kind of a novelty. I've come from RWD Mazda b-series and Rangers.

To sum up. OP @tedNugent draws line in the sand. Sport owners reply first because they are always on constant defense of the inferior Sport model. OP takes Sport side because of quick responses and already owns the Sport. Then proceeds to argue Sport is better for him over the Offroad. Instead of asking the questions, like originally, hes now teaching us things about the Sport being just as capable. Really needed that online confirmation from stranger's didn't you? Just a theory, but I guarantee you would be ready to trade that Sport in and take a hit if the right comments and people chimed in before the trashy, spunky, Sporters :stirthepot: did. You obviously could have been swayed.

Think about it @tedNugent . You start a thread, unsure of what you'll do, then based off Sport owners comments, you've all of a sudden made your mind up and are completely a Sport guy now to the point where you're defending your purchase. When you were JUST about ready to trade it in for an Offroad.:rofl::rofl: Priceless!
