Has anyone come across a TSB the covers the 2019 Tacoma? Specifically the differential whine issue? All the TSBs I’ve found only cover up to 2017s and 2018s.

I've checked a few times for my 19 as well, but so far I keep getting told the 19 does not have any TSBs out. My leaf springs in the back are incredibly squeaky and I know there is a TSB for them on previous model years, but the dealership won't perform the TSB on mine because they were told the 19s shouldn't have that issue anymore :annoyed:

Isn’t no TSBs a good thing?

Or is the idea: “free fixes are awesome.....c’mon!! ....give us something that needs fixin’ on the 2019’s Toyota!...dang already”

I had all the TSBs done on my 2017 which ever got rid of the 50 mph differential whine. Leaf springs, body mounts and insulation. When none of those worked dealerships replaced differential which seemed to help some, but not really. I also had the fuel pump replaces for the chirping and the ECU update with two different revisions which made a big difference in shifting and was more pleasant in daily driving.

My 2019 is much better with all the little bullshit fixed except for the differential whine. I love the truck and have made peace with it, but will pursue any potential fixes that come out for it.

Wow...that’s a lot. I am lucky to have had none of those problems. Hope they get some TSBs together soon for your new ride. :D:thumbsup:

TSB stands for Technician Service Bulletin... essentially meaning that something has been reported so many times that there is now a company-wide fix for the issue without it being a full-blown recall.

I just checked mine here at work and I don't have any, some of the units might have the campaign for the sensor in the front but mine doesn't have it. I have only heard the wine on mine a little bit but can say I haven't heard it in a while so maybe it has gone away. The only time I have heard it is at hwy speed at light acceleration.

If i lived somewhere with normal highways speeds it probably wouldn’t bother me that much. Unfortunately the speeds here are 30 to 45 on the highways so average flow of traffic is around 55 being the sweet spot for the differential whine. To make it worse I prefer to drive in silence which is my own problem to make it worse.

This last round before committing to a Tacoma again, I test drove the range and Colorado a few times, but couldn't do it. Colorados, although a nice truck, were not as impressive as all the consumer reports made them out to be. The Rangers ergonomics were definitely the roomiest and the powertrain entertaining, but felt very cheap inside. Except for this last tacoma, I typically keep trucks for 8 to 10 years and I don’t feel that force feeding a 4 cylinder via turbo will be a long term engine. Maybe it is, but definitely to soon to tell.

My Dad and I both own 2019 Tacos. Mine the SR, his the SR5. He’s an old gear head and knew exactly the sound he was hearing coming from the differential. Over the phone the service department told him brand new Tacomas don’t have those issues, but when he brought it to them and checked it out, they agreed. They replaced his whole differential and hasn’t had an issue since.

They should probably issue a 2019 tsb for the pre-collision sensor in the grill. Mine goes out whenever it gets wet, exactly when needed the most.

I made my local dealership replace my 2019 differential. Sad to say it still whines between 50 and 60. I will admit that the whine is quieter than before and hard to hear over the radio unlike the original diff, but it may get loud again, time will tell. Its a very annoying issue that I thought would have been eradicated by now, but it still plagues these trucks. Toyota ether knows the fix, but its to expensive to address on a large scale, Hino has them under contract with this style of differential and their stuck with it, or like everything else in the world, cheapness is rearing its ugly head. The frame and metal used I assume is thinner every year and finally, its so thin harmonic tones go right through it. Everything now is equivalent to a soda can with wheels.

It would be almost a perfect truck if the whine was gone.

I received a letter from Toyota about the TSB. I haven’t yet but take it to a shop and they are supposed to do something. I imagine it’s just add a gasket or insulation. Hasn’t been too much of an issue for me

There is already a recall for that not a TSB.

I'm inclined to believe after reading a thread some time ago that it involved a piece of tape...lol. Actually, I'm curious as to what their fix is exactly. I figure a little silicone will suffice more than just about anything.

    Does it in include 2019's?

Ask your SA to show it to you. They can but they don't want you to see it.
