I have a friend with a '93 RX-7 TT. Car's in amazing shape but the engine was tired. So he ordered a new 13b long block from Japan several months ago. We pulled the engine in February.

    IMG_49541.jpg IMG_49561.jpg

He spent the last few months collecting many upgrades...clutch, single larger turbo, battery relocation kit, fuel system, engine management, etc.

This morning we start to reassemble. Gonna be a lot of fun

Yup, we talked about this a bit in the summer. I ride bikes :bikewheelie2:in your area every September. Closer to Frankfort. Have some great friends in that area. We usually make a run on the Old Frankfort Pike, and grab some ice cream at Crank and Boom. Love it down there.

Where'd you get that recovery hitch? I really like the look of that. I'm working with no receiver hitch currently, but eventually she'll have one. Also curious on the stubby antenna, mine corroded away and is flopped over, so a replacement and stubby will be on the list.

I was psyched to find it. I like having that hitch covered, but don't like leaving the ball in there, and a shackle seems posuer - ish. This is low profile, even more robust that the beefiest shackle...it's simply a machined block of 6061 billet. almost as minimal as a plastic cover, but throw a strap loop on it you're in business. Not cheap, but literally a lifer. Matches the chrome bumper too.

as for the antenna, I had purchased a Cravenspeed stubby, which is a known brand. Useless. Returned it with no questions. Somewhere on TW a while back somebody had said they'd grabbed this other brand and it worked great, so I took the chance and sure enough, in the exact same locations the other failed, I have great reception. I seldom use the radio, but when I do.....and the whip hit my garage every entry and egress...and I had to get out of my truck and remove it everytime I hit the car wash....plus they use a red 2nd gen with a pro grill in their marketing...

although doesn't look like that'd be a problem for you, @BananaMan :boink:

Not saying this is your case but....

A lot times people will remove the antenna when they go through carwashes. The little threaded hole fills with water then the antenna gets put back on, trapping the water and eventually rotting out the threads or welding the threads. Putting some antiseize on the antenna threads can help combat that.

Yeah I had that issue with an older vehicle, but not this one. I bought the truck with 220k on it and the base of the antenna is corroded away. Outside and inside the fender, so it permanently is flopped back in line with the windshield.
I just can't bring myself to buy a whole new unit in the middle of the winter.

    Mornin' all. :hattip:

My father in law passed a couple of days ago. Visitation tonight and service tomorrow.

He's been sick for a long time. Finally he's not hurting anymore. That brings me some comfort, at least.

Hope everyone has a safe and pleasant New Year.
