Guys.... Since buying the third gen I have been lurking in their thread and I am genuinely worried for them and frankly myself now after buying one. It is a complete shit show. I had always heard the rumors about how bad it was over there buy now I am seeing it first hand...

RIP in piece my friend. Too many trolls, I can't even decipher who is serious and who is not in that section.

If you go back and read the boards from when the Tacoma first came out, people freaked out the same way. Calling it a Camry truck with it's rack and pinion steering instead of recirculating ball steering, coilover suspension instead of torsion bars, etc.

The day I buy a third gen is the day I log out of here for good. Dont let those people make you think your new truck is a bad decision. They are good trucks, and those people are just looking for issues to get attention.

If you're talking about that $89 "lift" style errrr I mean death trap, walk away now. Hell man, my floor jack cost more than that thing.

You want something for a LEVEL surface (not gravel), that is similar then perhaps this... you'll pay some coin but its going to be safer than a sub $100 product pictured doing the same thing.

    https://www.costco.com/quickjack-5,000-lb-capacity-portable-car-lift-.product.100460313.html

NOTE: I still wouldn't crawl under that thing.

I just don't understand why a decent floor jack, jack stands and common sense aren't enough. Stay away from those bargain bin items. Just go get a floor jack and jack stands (as in more than 2) and call it a day.

Nothing wrong with the truck. Sure, its had its issues JUST LIKE the 2nd Gen, JUST LIKE the 1st Gen. I've said it more than once here, if I could absorb that extra payment right now, I'd be modding a new tacoma instead of the one I drove off the lot in 2002.

It's less Tacoma and more mod
Where you going? I really liked Scottsdale Muffler up on Curry Rd. Those guys were worth every penny, both of my systems are like OEM quality on hangers, bends, and routing

Better than OEM on the Cruiser actually because I got them to shove a full uncrushed 2.5" pipe through the back frame section where the OEM pipe was flattened for whatever reason.

I bet there won't be any.

I went with the Denso radiator for my Tacoma, and the end tanks were supported in Styrofoam, keeping the radiator a good distance from the cardboard box itself.

Id love a newish 3rd gen. Preferably a 17 access cab with the 6 spd V6. But by the time I get into one the trolls wouldve moved on to bitching about their 4th gens.

Just nail a few 2x12's together for some homemade ramps if the tires dont need to come off. No need to overcomplicate anything.

Last radiator I changed was on a Mitsubishi. Went with Denso also and no issues. Very well packed.

i measured and i will need at least 20 inches of additional clearance to walk on my knees with pads while both arms are free of any hindrance and adequate headroom in most spots
these are some i was alerted to kwiklift https://www.kwik-lift.com/products/kwik-lift/ that have almost 20"
but range in price up to $1800, some serious coin for safety and confidence, damned the early rigor mortis
been trying to see if the Doctors can prescribe me some relaxers to get back to a normalcy of my youth but the drugs they have would probably prohibit me from doing any kind of 'dangerous' work around machinery

my old-as-dirt 1st gen has had no 'major' issues ever that i am aware of :notsure: probably not even anything minor lol unless you consider a seasonal squeaky clutch pedal spring assembly to be an issue
what was ever wrong with yours?
maybe a TSB that i am not aware of or alerted to
