Looking for help on my top strut mount bushing. I would like to remove the bushing (green arrow), clean, lubricate and re-torque. What is the correct tool size and type to hold in place the strut shaft from spinning (orange arrow) while turning the nut (blue arrow). Is there any jacking tips to help unload the strut while doing this?

    Thanks

It squeaks a bit from time to time That's why I was thinking of doing it.

Meh. Spray some WD40 on it.
    It’ll just start squeaking again.

To do what you want, you will need to remove the whole strut assembly, get a spring compressor, compress the spring, undo the bolt, remove the bushing, clean and lube, then reinstall it, then put it back into the truck and get a alignment. Pretty expensive time consuming thing to spray some lube in there.

If its OEM, take it to the dealer and let warranty deal with it.

PIA/dangerous way to do it. The truck itself makes an excellent spring compressor.
Not sure why you'd do it on a '19 though :notsure:

To answer the OP question though.... Aren't there flats on that top part that you can put a crescent on? I think I've also seen holes for an Allen wrench in the top but those were aftermarket I believe.

I think these have an Allen as well. Could be wrong though.

Sounds like something that should involve a little drive down to Toyota to pay way too much for an unhelpful opinion lol.

That would’ve been easier for sure but sadly they don’t.

it’s easy to do. But you need a spring compressor.

I guess when I did my rears it was the flats and not the Allen style. So that makes sense.

I used a small crescent wrench and this Snap-on wrench on the nut (rears)... my Snap-on guy tried to order a special socket but it was too big.
