Me? Nothing. The previous, a lot.
So I'm starting to get crossed eyed trying to read through the half-year's worth of posts. Seems like the HPTuner is an awesome choice for customizing, but if i'm just getting my first S/C this probably isn't the best choice just yet. Would you guys, the Yoda of tuners, recommend that a S/C virgin start with a TRD tuner then progress forward? I know there's UCON but boy is that a pretty penny.

The factory TRD spec calibration is where I’d start. Progression from that point will be best done with the assistance of HPTuners.

As someone who just busted my own boosted cherry about 25k ago, the TRD tune is perfect to get you started and will safely support numerous mods. HPT opens up the door for further refinement and more options like reducing/ridding rev hang on manuals and shift points for autos. You can turn off certain sensors and turn off Secondary Air Injection. Lastly, we can remotely tune you without you having to modify it yourself. Bottom line, the device cost around $200, you need 4 credits to tune your ECU. The credits currently cost around $50. If someone around you has an MPVI2 device then it can be used but you still have to buy the credits. Finally, you can mail your ECU to @JustDSM and get the TRD tune out on it and even a bit more secret sauce for less than $200 including shipping. If you don’t want to get into it and learn then this would be your best option. He is always open with support and can continue ECU mods to keep up with your physical mods.

May i also just throw one out there. Anyone NA or Blown, have any feed back on using colder plugs? Curious to see if something so simple will make any difference with the amount of timing toyota put in these things?

@nd4spdbh i think you had Ltft /maf anbnormalities? For what its worth, i went through an compared my logs from before and after i put in new injectors to fix my fuel consumption. Pre repair trims were at +1%. post repair trims at at +10% and through the rev range i can see the Maf pulling more air. A jump from 4.1 to 5.7 g/sec just at idle.

Colder plugs, interesting thought. I honestly doubt that they are a source of detonation on an NA motor... but that stated I dont think that anyone has tested the theory.

As far as LTFT's i bumped allll of the maf to volts numbers up by 4% based on logs which have gotten LTFT's down closer to 0 (down from 7ish% to 3ish% positive). But I am doing some more and more logging with some more "refined" logic and data manipulation. Excel doc, weighted averages based on axis values of the main 2d volts to lb/h table and rpms of the main maf correction table (just cus its easy). Thought process being, start with a gross number (IE 4% across the board) see where things need to be changed on the 2d graph. THEN ill move over to the 3d graph for final refinement ... if i get that far.

Fueling on bank's is interesting as mentioned before. under 10* throttle angle, bank 2 requests ~5% more fuel than bank 1, at 10*+ the LTFT's are about even and actually flip wherin bank 1 requests ~1-1.5% more fuel than bank 2

Mine pings its ass off if i dont run premium gas. And i was serious about the 100 shot. I dont think the 1gr has enough comp to really be a factor in that. To me the 40* timing everywhere and rubbish AE table is the big thing and in my mind a colder plug cold help. Seeing the knock retard move a good thousand revs with the 3* cam gears tho, even if cold plugs help, itd be false economy. Have the TRD’s benifited from cam gears as much as the NA’s? Do we have that data?

I have data logs proving the benefit with the TRDs. Did anyone get before and after logs that's NA?

I've seen both benefit. I don't think I have enough data to really say if the N/A or S/C trucks benefit more. Most folks run the baseline tune with a revision or two and call it good.

I STILL haven't installed my gears yet. I've got my truck pretty dialed with it's current N/A tune so I'll be able to really see how they affect the N/A setup.

Yeah right there with you. A change of living situation made my plan of "ill install cam gears over the winter break i have" move down on the list. They are sitting in the top of my tool box soaked in WD40 and wrapped in a paper towel to prevent surface rust.

Ill definietly be doing data logging before and after they go in whenever that is.

So to be clear, they are providing a higher or lower LSA?
