If you have a factory release bearing and slave cylinder , you are basically out of luck .
    Poor engineering at best

I don't. I have the CM hydro bearing/ clutch. What is there to adjust? There has been no mention of having to make annual adjustments?

How does the gap decrease over time? I would think the gap increases as the disc wears sense the fingers would need to press slightly more. Presuming the release is the T/O bearing of course.

As for adjustments I think we are talking about the clutch pedal. Does CM have an optimal distance between pressure plate fingers and CM bearing?

I had issues with the CM fx250 clutch I tried to install along with this hydrobearing... had to drop the trans like 6 different times and ditch the CM clutch

i had problems mating the transmission to the engine by myself. which pissed me off cuz i have done it myself. had a friend come over the next day and it went in like it was suppose to with no adjustments. i was so pissed. im glad i got everything to work fine cuz i would have been mad as hell if i had to drop that shit again.

What clutch did you end up going with and does it work with the CM hydro bearing?

URD stage 3, I’m pretty sure this hydrobearing will work with any clutch kit made for the Tacoma

As the clutch wears, it moves towards the engine, this in turn requires further travel of the pressure plate to disengage the clutch. That further movement is because the pressure plate fingers are moving towards the rear of the vehicle and bringing them closer to the throwout bearing

    My shit is all stock.
Could you elaborate as to what was wrong with the CM clutch please?

I will have to drop this trans again. If this clutch is a lost cause all-together, I’d rather know now and plan for something different.

Sorry to hear this, what a pain in the ass. I had a similar issue with a clutch made by clutchmasters for my 5spd tacoma, the center hub came loose on it and it was causing tons of vibrations. Had to drop the trans multiple times narrowing down the problem and sent the disc in for warranty, only for them to tell me that they wouldnt cover it. Huge waste of my time and money, and part of the reason why i havent purchased their TOB yet for my 6spd. Their poor customer service left a bad taste in my mouth to say the least. Sorry to hear you had similar problems, hopefully they will warranty the disc and make things right for you

This is an alarmingly large amount of defects for such a small sample size.
I have been running the Hydro bearing with their Kevlar clutch and pressure plate, and LUK flywheel for ~2 weeks. Still breaking it in. So far so good. Pedal is even lighter than the stock setup. Feels smoother all around as well. For the amount of money we are generating through these group buys I would think that CM should be involved in these conversation. If nothing else to collect data for improvements.
I put new tires on the day before the trans work and definitely have a new vibe between 55 and 70MPH. Not sure if tires or trans? Getting an alignment today and will try to re-balance next week. Exact tires as before, they were smooth and balanced without issue the first go around. They are the Falken Wildpeak AT3/W which others have struggled with as well... Hope it's not the new clutch, tires are easier to deal with...
Where is @gearcruncher to explain his statement about adjusting the clutch?

First page , click on the install instructions and go to step 12 .
If you adjust the clutch release bearing to 3/8 of an inch today , in a year from now as the clutch disc wears down you should check for correct adjustment again . As the clutch disc wears down , the pressure plate fingers move towards the release bearing which decreases the free play between the release bearing and the pressure plate . The idea behind this kit is to prevent the release bearing from spinning all the time according to what they are advertising . If you cant adjust your clutch , your clutch will partially apply .

Advantages explained on the first page ?
Release bearing doesnt turn all the time .....less moving parts . Its imperative that you use the correct shims . If the bearing spins , purchasing this kit will only have 2 advantages rather than 3

    No more chirping bearing
    No more messed up quill
No more partial apply of your clutch ......This is something that all factory tacomas suffer from

Believe it or not but as your clutch disc wears down , your diaphragm style clutch becomes stronger with more holding power .

I ran a Centerforce in my last truck and it was awesome (it wasn’t a Tacoma, FYI). If it’s compatible with this CM hydrobearing, I’ll probably run another Centerforce when I replace my clutch this summer.

Yea it was a huge waste of time for me as well, and having my truck down for several weeks sucked. I sent the kit back to CM and at least they did give me a refund but at the end of the day I still came up short with all the time and money spent...

I have been running this CM hydrobearing bearing for about 2k miles and no complaints yet... it’s the only real solution out there currently to the Tacoma TOB issues. Prior to this I was running the URD hydrobearing kit that is no longer offered. That one started leaking on me at around 40k miles so if this lasts longer than that I’m fairly satisfied.

I'll have to do some digging and check and see if its compatible. I believe if its the same height as oem it should work, fingers crossed

I am about to buy the Hydro kit in the current about to be group buy (super excited to finally get rid of the squeak) and I am trying to decide why I would want to go with anything other than an OEM clutch?

I am currently at 233k miles and counting on the original (I am the original owner) and to me, thats a lot of miles. Yes, i'm a on-road daily driver 98% of the time, and occasionally tow my 24' +4k lbs sailboat up and down the East coast of the USA, with minimal beach 4x driving... so far....

So why should I go with anything other that OEM?
I am going to have my local Toyota dealer do the Hydo kit Install...

Please inform me Tacoma World..and thank you in advance for your opinions.

Id stay with the oem for your application. Unless you plan on making any power upgrades the factory is doing you well. Least amount of risk with the install and they are proven.
