One of the beautiful things about the SG is I can turn off the CEL with the click of a button.

Yeah that is a handy feature. It gets old after a while though, I have a P0440 that pops up every once in a while and it's almost to the point where I'll actually do something about it.

 

Isn't that one they call the gas cap mod code?

 

Yeah I need to. Probably be my next venture. Was holding off a bit to swap this multi mode tcase in but I don't have all the parts for it either..so might as well just do it.

I thought i saw someone post about that recently. Why are they stopping that?

On another note.


Today I finally finished my PSU for my analog console idea and my first rack. Took forever. Been investing heavily in audio gear this year. Could have bought a GFC and then some likely..but with no shop the tinkering time has gone to this!
















Kind of a photo dump..but big moment for me. One of the main piece of the puzzle done.

Automation system should ship soon.

I need to build 2 more of the racks.

And a whole lot of these guys:





Thats a analog fader I'll be using. I have 6 now(4 built). Need 20 more or 28 more depending.



And I still need the back summing end to build which is big $$$ so will wait a bit. Probably few months to get that thing, take about 100 hours to build.



Thats what I do now instead of build trucks! haha

Not really. Pcb is elevated. For a piece of rack mounted gear. If it didn't short during calibration and messing with it for measurements then it won't now.

It has been a lot of work. Lots lots more to come. Have all my mastering gear to build as well.

I didn't design the board but it's a custom 3 way distribution board since I requested 3 racks from one PSU. Normally this PSU only does 2 racks. But the modules for my faders draw so little power we knew I could do 3 even 4 if I wanted.

So the guy came up with that and I had to pretty much make it from scratch from there. Is cool though.

Be a sweet rig I hope when done. Certainly be unique.

 

I don't see how it would help if it's still between the frame rails...which is the stock location..

Seems like it would be hard to get stuff out of the bed.

 

Not really sure of all the politics and all, but what is being said is that cars run so clean these days (so few failures) that they feels it is no longer necessary to force emissions testing on all vehicles.

I was looking more at the low rise bed rack and how access would be from the side. Otherwise it would require moving the tailgate and spare tire out of the way just to access anything from or through the bed.

 

Yeah when I did the body lift I think it stretch the filler neck just enough that every once in a while it pops the code. Haven't seen it in a while.

 

Boom. Done.

Well, except that I have no shocks, the brake lines need some work, bumpstops need to be replaced, and the air line isn't hooked up yet...





@Squeaky Penguin the offset is pretty mild, no problems extending the slip joint in the driveshaft a couple inches or so to make it work, without exposing the splines. No vibes up to 45 or so that I ran it up to last night.

 

In camp yes, but during the day I can access most of what I need (highlift, recovery gear, and whatnot) from the sides as I have more side clearance.

I was giving some thought to what that guy did on his 2nd gen with the floor cutout. I think I'd be hesitant to try that on a metal bed that has its own crossmember there. I dunno, I don't have the storage complaints that most seem to though. I'm never bringing a floor jack (period) or something that dense without a place to mount it anyway. The most cumbersome things I bring are actually my water jug and my fuel cans. The fuel cans fit well enough where they are, but that water can is annoying.

 

Yeah, I can't see carrying a floor jack either and storing it in a spot that isn't easily accessible.

Floor jacks don't seem very practical for trail use. The lighter, aluminum ones I've seen don't offer much lift, so to have one that does means it will be steel and very heavy. Not a good option when weight is already an issue.

@Reh5108 did something with that space a couple of years ago. Setup a way to store a couple of fuel cans as I recall. I am wondering how that has all worked out.

 

Yeah he had that little cage that lowered with the spare tire winch. Clever use of space, I wouldnt want my fuel cans there, but if you sealed that into a container I could see using it for something.

I won't be able to use any of that space this time around. I need room for a frame x brace that way my rear shock towers won't tweak the frame inwards.

 

A sealed container? With an access hatch from above?

 

His doohickey lowered from a hinge point, it exposed the topside from the back once fully lowered, I'd think that would be pretty easy to store stuff you don't always need everyday. Good place for OSK items

 

Ah I see now. I was envisioning the tire in there too.

I've looked into doing something like that years ago using boat deck lids and cubby inserts. Never bothered though.

And on 2nd gens very helpful tips tie the bed rack down that way due to the plastic bed. Likes to spread more than ours.
