would love to have some fun with my MT with track off on an empty parking lot with some snow.... that is definitely not happening here in Miami, so I have to wait for some rain and give it some gas... but is not that fun because the snow make drifting effortless and you don’t have to push the truck too much to have fun....

Drove up yesterday to have some fun in the snow. But I didn’t drift. Don’t know how.

Yup. It’s available. What’s not available is the trd dclb 4x4 MT. I would have been all over that.

yeah, my nephew would like to learn to drive, but not on my old truck lol
i told him to get himself a $500 beater MT and learn the ropes on that and possibly have to put a new clutch in like i had to on my first used car

on the back window.. once I put it on

I taught my brother in my car. Just be a good teacher and don’t let them smoke the clutch. I’m the truck you could teach in low range too. I’d teach someone in my truck and not worry.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dog-leg_gearbox

... was doing some DD on the dog-leg, since i think that is what i had in my first car 30yrs ago which was totaled one late Saturday night in February or March 1990 iirc

and i saw this that i don't ever recall before

    Trucks[edit]
Many light trucks (e.g. Iveco Turbo Daily) have dog-leg five- or six-speed transmissions, because second gear is fine for normal starting; first is considered a "crawler" or "granny" gear in these trucks and is only used for starting with heavy loads and/or a trailer, or descending steep grades. In many older trucks, the shifter is marked with "Low" instead of "1", and 2nd gear is marked as 1st instead. A 4-speed truck gearshift might read "R, Low, 1, 2, 3", rather than "R, 1, 2, 3, 4", since the transmission is considered a 3-speed with an auxiliary low gear rather than a normal 4 speed.

The dog leg gearbox is typical of nine- and ten-speed heavy-truck transmissions. In the case of a ten-speed transmission, the gears are 1–5 in the low range and 6–10 in the high range (the 1 position is not used in the high range of a nine-speed transmission).

    ....

i do not know if its possible to start in 2nd on mine or not, probably not on a steep incline, without it lugging on me or not :notsure:
may have to try it out

I rented a U-haul once that had a Granny gear, it was actually kinda fun to drive.

When my truck rolls even the slightest bit after i release the brakes, i always use 2nd.

If its flat and truck is not rolling forward, dont think its a good idea to use second. Ive tried it before, it works but takes too long and wears the clutch more.

i am more concerned on lugging the engine, which i read is not good to do
    engine repairs are costly!

Thats why i would not start with second unless my truck is rolling forward. I would not recommend it.
