I used to work with Lance, and he's the sole owner now. His bikes are super solid and have a serious cult following for a reason. I wouldn't even hesitate, get it.

What about "run what ya brung" and invest that money in your ST? It would go a long way into making it a fun bike at those races, and since you're not trying to podium, it'll just be a more enjoyable ride. Less maintenance, less space, less waste, and your ST would be more fun on your daily rides too.

What size are you looking for? I can get you a size medium right now (new, from a shop)

Nice, I might try them. I like the minions a ton though. So much traction on everything I’ve ridden them on, even snow/ice/slush. The sidewalks are like perfectly stiff, no bounce or rolling in corners.

I definitely like me some Minions, as well; however, they're super aggressive and heavy, so I only run them on my full-squish bike that sees more gnar in places like Pisgah. Outside of those conditions, though, they seem like they slow the bike down, rather than speed things up. The vast majority of my riding is XC singlespeed stuff, so the Minions are simply not the right tire for that IMO.

tl;dr: The Minions are awesome tires under the right conditions.

Spent the AM at Blankets Creek today. Been telling myself that I want to change up bikes again. Just to try something different. Still can’t get the smuggler I demoed out of my head.

Honestly though, trek and other big brands may get lot of flack, but trek sure nailed the fuel ex IMHO. Still wouldn’t mind a change, but in the hands of this everyday joe, this bike is pure fun. Up and down.

Photo dump. Pay no attention to the budget and dated parts.

I have those in the 27.5x2.8 flavor on my Timberjack. No complaints. Was considering swapping them for the XR4 TIs like I have on my Fuel EX, for some extra bite..
Time will tell, they aren't ready to be replaced yet...

It's a solid, pretty well sorted platform.
    Still beating mine.
Gonna hold with a budget, and just do some upgrades soon... After I get the BIG bike back together...

They’ve always done a good job with fuel, I’ve never ridden one and not enjoyed it. I’ve been considering adding a top fuel or fuel ex but I kind of want something different

I’ve got my alarm set for 5:45. Headed on a gravel bike thrash fest tomorrow with the mtb group. A few cutthroats, Fargo’s. And I’ll be putting back on my WTB Resolutes on my Jamis Renegade (the steel one ;)). Should be good times.

If I decide to stick with mine, I’ll throw some part upgrades at it. The circa who knows fox float that’s on there has served me well. But that bike is begging for a fork with a little more class. The float can move over to the hardtail I’d like to put together in the future. I have a bit of an itch I may need to scratch for some blingy wheels too :anonymous:

That’s my biggest hang up. Every time I ride it, it makes me smile. It seems to do most everything well, by my standards. If I move to something else for the sake of change, there is certainly a chance I’ll regret it. We’ll see.

Built this jet 9 from used parts mostly from pink bike and craigslist. Really enjoying the ride.

Nice! Oakmont Bakery, very familiar with the place. I take the gang at Dirty Harry's cookies periodically. A good day for Urban/Gravel ride as all the local trails sorta suck.

Haha, possibly/probably. Demo fleet won’t be around until spring so I’ll be attempting to resist the urge to buy until I can test ride.

The picture was just for shits and giggles. The manager suggested the photo op as he knew I had a quicksand taco. It’s not a perfect match to that Hightower, but it’s a little something for their Facebook page.

Just got back from ride. A little mud here and there, but overall the trails are in decent condition.

I just got on a Hightower today for a spin. Nice bike. Though I think I like the fuel ex more.

I think the Tallboy would be a better comparison to the Fuel EX. And likewise the Hightower to the Remedy

Not at all trying to challenge your appraisal. As I have zero saddle time on anything from Santa Cruz. Thats based solely on travel numbers.

My preference would be to wait on the demo fleet....but that will require some patience.

    Nice.

Since the Harley is going to be well over the initial budget, i am definitely going to cheap this year.. unless the right used bike comes up...

Found some trails while down here on vaca.. nothing ridiculous, but, pretty good for the Fuel EX, though, my Timberjack would be a LOT faster. Short. Gonna play some more before I roll home...

So jelly right now. I’ve always wanted to ride up there. I think I’ll try and get it next summer.
