If you want a nice sound and no drone check out the Corsa exhaust, yes it is pricey but IMHO you get what you pay for. I have one on my truck and can cruise all day with no drone.

I really like my stock trd catback. A nice mellow sound that’s not obnoxious at all. Drone isn’t bad and just adds a little cool ear factor when on the throttle. Zero cares about performance gains......... It’s a slow truck that I’m happy with.

Yeah it's too damn big to ship though. If you are in Norcal I'd make you a deal.

Finding that perfect deep, non droning tone with the 2GR will be difficult. The problem has less to do with it being a 6 cylinder engine and more to do with the fact that it's a 60° V. This places the exhaust pulses close together, making it more droney...unlike a 90° V which has uneven pulses...which has more potential for a throatier sound.

Toyota did this for packaging and refinement. 60° V6s are inherently better balanced than 90° V6s. Toyota didn't care about sound...they went for smoothness.

I had the TRD in my 1GR. It has the same basic block, bore and 60° V as the 2GR....just a bit more stroke for 500cc more displacement. After 6 months the honeymoon was over. Just too much noise and drone. Sold it to a guy here on TW whose stock exhaust had rotted off.

Ultimately sound is subjective. So that's only my opinion. But after going back to stock it was like driving a new rig all over again. I never looked back

they make electric cutouts for a reason, much more practical that swapping out the exhaust every time you wan't it loud... I bought a cheap ass one on eBay and have been running it for a little over a year. can go from quiet to "loud-ish" at the flip of a switch

That’s what I’m after... i drive a stick so the sound matters to me, i like to feel connected to my car, hear the engine break... when i downshift i get a tickle lol... anyway, I’m not as concerned with performance in the sense that i want it to all of a sudden become a fast truck, i just don’t like the fact that it became slower. Specially on take off and low gear.

Ah shit. I’m all the way in the other coast. Would you be interested in finding out the cost of shipping? If it ain’t too bad i could handle the shipping. If it makes sense I’m down to do it if you are. If not no big deal.

Wow man great insight that I’ve never considered, hell, never even knew of. I appreciate your input. The honeymoon with my MBRP is over too, but not because of sound, just really bummed about the loss of power.

I was skeptical at first, then caved in and bought OVtune and I love it! Felt like driving a "new truck". I hear that manual performs a bit better than us automatic guys, I'm sure you'll love the tune:thumbsup:

btw TW is evil, whenever I'm content about my truck, another cool mod pops up here then I want it too. ex: meso's products, long travel kits & shocks, superchargers etc lol!:spending:

I’d be willing to pay that if it made sense financially and if @Hooper89 was willing to do it. But i don’t wanna inconvenience him either.

I have a borla muffler 40665 with axle dump and I’m about ready to go back to stock. Wish I had kept the stock muffler....

You could put on craigslist and get something for it. I sold the stock exhaust off my ram for $100 on there.
