Well, we didn't buy a truck for fuel economy, did we?
I think we know that the V-6 is a thirsty beast but a very reliable, trouble-free motor.
15-20 mpg is the average range if you have 4WD weight and stock or near stock tires.
The other wild figures probably come from computer generated estimating and not actual miles divided by gallons pumped.

I think anything higher than say 23-24 MPG are probably extended/gradual downhill drives. At the west coast it is pretty easy to make significantly long downhill trips if you travel from inland to the coast. Of course the decent is very gradual but, as an example I can start at 2500 feet and descent to sea level over a 400 miles trip. Under those condition, your MPG is boosted since gravity assisted you :). If there is tailwind, it is even better. Of course if you make a round trip, elevation gain/loss cancels out, but if I were to only post the numbers for the decent (which would look legit since it is 400 miles), my MPG can stay above 24-25.

Went up when I switched to lighter tires. I get between 14-19 mpg's depending on how much of that is cruising on the highway.

Dayum! I'm running a bone stock 2010 AC I4 MT-5 and getting 20-22 MPG! Then again, I pull 20-21 MPG with my MT-6 FJ, and everybody bitches about the mileage of their FJs. But I don't get in a hurry, and I coast a lot when I'm coming up on lights and traffic.

Agree...I had similar numbers with my 04 4 Runners but with standard tires. I still say, when you put an open box on the back, you’re begging for worse highway mileage. IMO, you can have the same engine and drive train in a fully enclosed body, and you have a significant drag advantage.

Our driving habits might be part of the reason for the mileage differences. Also could be based on a google search, the curb weight of the 2010 access cabs appear to be hundreds of pounds lighter than the 2019s for whatever reasons. I’m new to the Tacoma owner crowd. FYI, mines a long bed.

Agree. Between that and winter weather and our mileage will be all over the map.

Bored, so I’ll add to it - consistently get 20 mpg on the 06 PreRunner that’s pretty much all stock. Super stoked on those numbers for an almost 15 year old little pick up.

    None... yet.
I get anywhere between 16 and 20 MPG, depending on my driving, the conditions, etc etc. The vast majority of my driving is in town, and most of my trips are really short. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I drove a couple hundred freeway miles down to my in-laws today, and I got a little under 18 MPG. But about 75% of that drive is pretty hilly terrain, almost all of it with cruise control on and I wasn't putting a ton of effort into keeping accel/decel smooth. And the truck pretty fully loaded with a wife and a toddler, all our crap, and some fairly heavy gifts, including several pieces of wooden furniture, including a decent-sized white oak bench sticking out of the bed looking like (and acting as) a hillbilly spoiler. I've got no beef getting almost 18 MPG under those conditions.

I came to this truck from a first-gen Tundra, so I'm just happy that I'm not calculating my mileage in gallons per mile anymore.

AFAIK all ACs are long beds.

17-18 MPG around town in my 5-lug automatic RC; 20-25 MPG on the highway depending on factors like A/C usage.

I get 420 miles per tank if I don't use the AC. Mostly back roads and some highway. Stock height and stock tires.

Last time I checked I was averaging about 18 mpg. I don’t pay attention on gas mileage when I drive my truck.
