If you swapped out the transmission that would be a great time to just go ahead and replace the clutch and flywheel too.

 

I know nothing about swapping a transmission; Luckily they have a trusted independent mechanic they take all their vehicles to; My friend's got a 2013 Subaru Outback, she bought her daughter a 2010 Subaru Forester, and now they've got the Tacoma; If that truck had slightly lower miles do you think it would be a good buy? I really like that truck, especially after driving it!

They are great trucks, I had a 2000 in that configuration. If you can get it at a reasonable price then it should be worth it. Even if you wanted to sell it at a later date you would be fine as it would be easy to sell.

 

They did swap out frames on recall so I bet it does.

 

Yeah but it has over 141K miles, I don't know it's history, and it's six years older than my truck; Plus I wouldn't tear all of the stereo equipment out of my current truck; I'd have to pay at least $600 to put the complete stereo including the backup camera in another truck!

 

Why did Toyota crush all of the older 1st Gens then?!?!

 

They did a buyback on the earlier ones and just went ahead and replaced frames on the later ones

 

You can always flip it, sure would be easy to sale after you fixed it up a little.

 

I don't have $6,500 in cash to drop on a truck at the moment.

What I should be saying is I can't afford two trucks right now; I could sell my current 2nd Gen and buy the 1st Gen with money left over, but I don't want to sell my 2nd Gen.

Like I said, the red '04 belonged to my friend's late ex-husband and the I think the kids are pretty adamant about keeping the truck because it gives them something to remember their dad by.

No but I swapped out the factory speakers, sounds better than the JBL setup
