I was hearing the 2020 was better.
    Drove a Pro today.
I loved the power seat, at 6'5", I felt like I had more leg room than my 2016.
    Soaked up the bumps nicely.
Then I hit the highway...huge disappointment!
It was in 4th gear down hill at about 73 mph. Dance between 4-5-6-5-4-5-6-5-4 up hill (Kansas hill, not mountain)!
    Arrrrrrrrrgh!!!
    C'Mon Toyota!!!
    Geeeeeeebus this still sucks!!!
Totally disappointed in the power and trans dance....still.

My thoughts on any car, truck, motorcycle is, nothing will be perfect. Pros and cons. You accommodate yourself the best you can. Looks vs functionality. Doing 95 on a lowered Harley with 14” and another with 16” apes (No windshield) against the headwind isn’t fun for a few hours but damn if it isn’t cool.
Toyota can’t hit the mark for every driver especially when some people are more knowledgeable and aware than others. They will never and any manufacturer will ever check all the boxes for everyone.

I'll say it again, about 8 thousand transmission suck threads, yet still it's acting normal, according to everyone here.

I have a 2020 PRO and it drives like a dream. Up hills, down hills, on the flats in head winds.

    Maybe it's you?

Turn up the JBL and sit back and enjoy the ride.

I have not experienced any gear hunting. None. Zip. Zilch.

    Go get yourself a Ridgeline.

    Bye.

The only cure is more manual and more Nitro gears.

I thought they did some changes in the programming of the ECU with the newer models. A toyota engineer said this on video to make the feel and performance feel better.
Incidently, if I ask stealership to flash my ECU' with similar performance updates as the newer trucks, would they do it?
I got some of the earlier ECU shift updates back in 2018, but my 2016 to me always felt the same, i never felt any improvement at all.

Yeah, it is me, when it is on cruise control!
You can drink the koolaid, but I'm not.

None of these trucks are consistent. I've seen crazy variations.

The truck is much more enjoyable in the city than it is on the highway in the mountains. It’s not just him on the gear hunting. I knew about it coming in, though, so no complaints here. Just gonna get overtune when the truck is out of warranty.

Same issue for 4 yrs, the power comes on at 3k, you need it lower in a truck!

Just giving you a hard time, had a 17 automatic, now a 19 manual. Love the gearing in the manual much better, but still not perfect but good enough.
