    Looking for some help:
camping for the night on my way home in the SumterNational Forest (Enoree district.) Well what I would like help with... I was organizing gear in my wife's 4runner (wouldn't have been issue if I was in my Tacoma) but I digress I left my clothing duffle bag on the ground. (Bag is waterproof, well I hope it is lol)
If someone is in the area they could grab it. I do have the location so it won't be a needle in a haystack. PM if you can help and I'll get you the location.
    Thanks in advance, Dan

That's a loaded question. They are different types of shocks. A good tuner can make them both ride so that 99% of people wouldn't know the difference.

Agree the NC/SC threads are crickets those guys are a little different Breed. The first gen guys seem more like the Tacoma community.

Just a tad bigger but yes they were. But back then all full size trucks were smaller than what they are today. I had a crew cab F250 as a rental and it was huge on the inside compared to my old 99 model.

Out the box big shock manufacturers valve the shocks for whatever the stock spring rate they ship them with. This is also set at a certain preload and whatever mock up truck they are using. They try and get it as forgiving as possible for as many variables. So if your truck and set up isn't anywhere close to what they have then it can seem like a shit ride. If it's perfect then it can be really good. So you have one guy riding around on kings that nailed a factory out the box set up and then someone with whatever other brand completely miss then one rides so much better and can get opinions on x shock is better than x. Now you take both set ups to a good shock tuner let them work their magic for one of those people I bet they wouldn't be able to tell the difference. It's also in how people like the ride etc. Here's an extreme example. You take 2 identical NASCARs lets say Jimmy Johnson and Tony Stewart. They get their cars set up the way they like them lay some lap times down. Now have them switch cars neither driver will like the set up or be as fast. Because they like things differently this can be the case for the way a vehicle rides.

Fox, ADS, Radflo, King- Progressive type shocks
    Icon, Bilstein- Digestive type

Very well explained. Thank you. Went and watched some videos from Accutune and I believe the digressive is the better choice for my daily driver that sees Offroad only at low speed and not really any washboard roads.

I have another question for you...
If I’m running a 650lb spring with a bunch of preload to give me 3” lift, would I be better off with a 700lb spring WITHOUT preload?

You'll probably still need some preload but less. I'm running 700# springs on my billie 6112s and they are on the 4th notch to get 3" of lift.

Sounds like your current springs might be 13” length? You shouldn’t need a bunch of preload with 650lb coils if you don’t have a lot of weight up front.

Bought them used with 650lb coils on them. I think I’ll make the jump to 14” 700lb coils

edit: ARB bumper without winch right now.

Cabela's and Best Buy mostly, but grabbed dinner up there, too. We needed a new camp stove and picked up a nice Bass Pro propane stove while we were there. I was kinda hoping the S&W Shield would have been on a holiday sale, too, but no such luck.

Spotted this guy with what looks like a KB Voodoo rack in the Cabela's parking lot. No TW sticker.

Someone in a lifted Subaru with a Smittybilt awning, I think sliders, and traction mats mounted on top parked next to me, too. That thing was sharp.

Oh nice. I have gotten a couple things from that Cabela’s, They have some things that the Bass pro in TN doesn’t have.
