Yet somehow they always manage to wire their retirement to Nigeria. I'd bet most of these guys have Facebook and post personal details all the time.

A lot of boomers and luddites don't understand the difference between metadata collection and Big Brother. When I flew on the E-3 AWACS, during public displays we'd get the craziest conspiracy stuff. One guy asked if we could see him through his TV. Work a tech support help desk for any amount of time *really* brings out the stupid. But, it doesn't matter. They'll lament and whine but still ask their grandchild for help when their device gets bricked from trying to read how Hillary's pedo ring has infiltrated CHik-Fil-A per FreedomeEagle.Facebook.ru

Anyway, apparently despite my horrific driving, Big Brother Toyota approves. I wonder who can get the high score? We should have a forum challenge!

If I'm not mistaken, all, or almost all cars and trucks have this since like 2000. The computer in there captures it all. Supposedly, it takes a court order to access them, but as we have seen in this thread, that's totally false.

We have access to computers to see if the truck was abused or not with these new Toyota’s. the 17 tacos included.

Rarely have we turned down warranty work though. Even on a corolla that somehow registered 9k rpm when it was shifted into the wrong gear.

The black box is used for accidents. That’s in all cars with are systems if I remember correctly. Dealers cannot access these.

There is a difference between a black box that gets data pulled in the event of an accident and real time driver behavior tracking.
When you have a warranty issue on a 2020 they know whether you were in the mountains or on pavement with the co ordinates provided when the fault light came on.

And yet, all the phone babys that can't live without a phone to ask "which way does the bolt turn" Don't give me that shit, todays people are dumber then ever, they just seem smart because they know, depend, on how to use machines to think for them, now no one thinks, they look at their phone. I.E. useless without their phone.

Take away all the keyboards in your life, you'l all shit the bed, puck, and cry at the same time.

Half of my hard stops are from the Dynamic Cruise control system as some dumb ass just has to get into my lane RIGHT in front of me even though there is 2 foot ball fields of length behind me.....

I am not sure you can, it is not the head unit that does this.. it only displays the information. I have a feeling Toyota (and others) are using a completely sealed system to store this information like a "black box" which can only be accessed by Toyota. Let me know if you find something... I am not worried about mine personally.. Hell if they really want to know where I am at all they need to do was call and ask.

You are SAFE from the app :p If you have cellular abilities and GPS you are being tracked they just was not nice enough to give you an interface for it. :)

You know Sharon also?? I met her thru PornHub ;)

I hope no one is seriously paranoid about this issue... we live in a connected age, your TV knows more about your watching habits then you do, your alarm system knows your daily routine, your phone can predict where you will want to go and when, Google scans all your email for keywords, Amazon Alexa records ALL your voice inputs (yes Johnny even when you tell it not to and even when you are not talking to it.. how do you think it KNOWS when you are), RING has been caught many times giving out your personal security videos to third parties, even Apple makes it clear they send Siri recordings to their Siri team....

You can not take a piss without something on you, around you, near you, overhead of you, or your neighbor devices knowing about it... Welcome to the convenience of living in an always On, connected world!!
