Do 2020 TRD Off Road Premiums come with steering assist in the LDW system? And, can you turn the LDW warning beep volume up?

My 2020 OR without premium package came with lane departure assist. You can change between three volume levels I believe. It doesn’t decrease the radio volume when the chime/beep is announced though

Did it come with sterling assist though, where the steering wheel makes very minor adjustments that you can clearly feel? Also, can you describe to me how to adjust the volume level?

Have the system, had it go off a few times, never felt a thing. Tech and premium on a 2020 6MT.

Is the steering assist a thing[on these trucks]? I was unaware.

I am pretty sure the Tacoma does not have that feature.

I agree. I have searched through the settings and it’s not there! I do wish however you could at least turn the volume up on the LDW beep, it’s pretty pointless unless you are driving in pretty much absolute quiet! This Lane Departure Warning System safety feature might as well not be included & tnerfore not be charged for because it’s practically useless because the warning beep volume is so low!

I'm pretty positive you can change it, there are a TON of options you can change like that. I spent an hour in my truck yesterday just diddling around with menus, options, preferences. I turned off the voice command confirmation speech, turned down the volume of the lock/unlock beep, set the climate control to NOT turn the ac compressor on when I hit "auto"‐ I have to tell it to turn on and a ton of other stuff. Have fun, don't kill the battery though!

You have to be parked to change the volume setting. I believe I've seen it in the menu's.

Lane keep assist needs electric power steering. Tacomas have hydraulic power steering, so it's limited to lane departure warning.

You can't hear the warning beeps? I turn the feature off in my daily commute because it's too annoying, only enabling it on long drives where I might doze off.

I can hear it - but only if it’s relatively quiet in the truck.

I’m almost positive the Tacoma doesn’t have the assist, only the warning.

What is so hard about driving the truck in the lane? It's like coloring, keep it inside the lines.....

Why do you need a warning when the lines are painted on the road?

Safety Sense 2.0 is the one that has the steering inputs and auto brake feature. Our trucks have version 1.0 which just beeps at you. It is plenty loud unless you literally have hearing issues.

Woah woah and WOAH. This is the 3rd gen section. We take no responsibility for our actions and Toyota is to blame for everything.

What are you some type of idiot :boink::rolleyes:

Then why am I paying for this option if it’s pointless - I don’t need it, but if I am paying for it, I want it to actually work. ... oh, and your comment “ride the bus” ... very mature!

I get that if it's on there it should work, no argument here, you bought it, it should work.
But, if wanting to sit in a vehicle that does the driving for you, well, why drive?

Totally agree. Still ticks me off that my money is getting taken for this option and it’s pointless, I should have the option to turn it up so I can hear it if I’m talking with someone or listening to music!
