Glad he's out, but it bums me out some Californians, probably in jeeps, got him out but owell . Both those pages annoy the shit out of me. One with the "club" mentality with all the insurance garbage, bylaws, officers and "official" recoveries... gfy. And the other was better until the gofundme, scam shit and drama started, again, gfy. I got on those pages to help people that got their rig stuck, not watch jr. high drama.

I’ll be curious to see how long it takes for the playa to get unfucked in that area. Hopefully the wet winter will continue and it will help expedite filling in all those ruts.

Well....I got stuck in the snow last week. I was wasn’t in my truck. It made me think as to why don’t I have a winch if I have a bumper. I bought the smittybuilt XRC third gen. Pretty happy with the speed of the winch hopefully it doesn’t break lol. I do like the new control that comes with it.

Mine has been fine but I’ve only had to use it once earlier this year when I got stuck in snow. I guess it sitting unused for a couple years and then still working is a good sign. Winches are semi worthless in the desert though unless you carry a pull pal or dig and bury your spare tire.

If I went broverlanding with 20 other rigs I’d rather just wrap the winch line around my neck.

Too many to list, and I've probably forgotten a bunch.
Glad dude is out. Playa ruts sometimes take several years of very wet weather to disappear. I expect them to be there for a while.

I usually go out exploring with a few friends. I’m the only one with a winch, but we also limit our risks and think before we mash the gas pedal. And the rest of the guys have other recovery gear, so we can cobble together what we need, on the spot.

I spent Saturday with the oldest, exploring around Churchill Canyon and checking out the old open pit mine near Yerington. We skipped Pony Meadows - I wasn’t in the mood to have my kidneys abused on yet another power line ROW road. Not after the beating we took from Dayton to Como a few months ago. (hint: slowly justifying to the wife why I ‘need’ a UTV for ‘family exploring trips’).

Amazing how much fun you can have without being and asshole or a dumbass.

    Deer season.

There’s always a slight twinge of sadness when I tag and bag early on. Back to people that much sooner if it’s not cold enough to let him hang a couple of extra days.
