anything difficult regarding changing 2016 front/rear differential fluid?

    Quality 3/8" 10mm allen key is critical for the front. If the drain is super tight, simply hit it with a hammer flat faced and try again.

    Rear is 24mm or 15/16" and is harder to strip.

    Always make sure you can loosen the fill plug before you drain it.

    Make sure to replace the crush washers... Don't reuse them, it's not worth it.

    I would say for the front only use a 10mm allen, 3/8" is ever so slightly smaller and more likely to strip.

    I'd also recommend using an allen socket on a ratchet or breaker bar, that way one hand can keep it straight in the drain plug while you loosen.

    What tooling are folks using to fill? Is there any special tooling required due to low clearance? I have a tool that resembles a syringe with a rubber hose on the end, that's what I was planning on using.

    I used Redline GL-5 75w-85 just to match Toyota viscosity recommendation.
    You can get a quart bottle pump on Amazon for around $5. I have used
    $12 Plews 55001 Lubrimatic, 4cc Fluid Quart Pump (set of 2)
    Plews 55001 many times with good luck.

    Make sure you have a decent oil pump. I bought the syringe style and what a mess. The Stalube pump that screws on the bottle is the one to get.

    I also second Redline, but fuck Amazon I found it cheaper on eBay shipped

    There's a whole thread on detailed instructions for this, read it.

    As for oil, opinions are quite varied. I settled on Redline 75w-85 after reading every thread I could find discussing oil type. Ebay is the best place to buy.

    Most difficult aspect is breaking loose the fill and drain plugs. Long breaker bar or impact wrench needed. I had to use a breaker bar and floor jack in combo to remove rear fill plug.
