    Agreed. Every couple is different.

But, if someone wants to buy truck goodies, and they can afford it, and their partner tells them they can't, something is wrong.

When you enter into marriage, you basically are no longer seen as individual but as a couple under law, and most marriage vow to put the other person before themselves.

You can have your own hobbies, but your own life and finances, sounds like you spent a lot of money on a ceremony for a glorified roommate...

I think we mostly agree here.

I'm just saying that if someone is married, and their spouse doesn't allow them to buy things they want to, there's a problem in the relationship.

    It's a partnership, not a dictatorship.

    Option 2 in our house.
Since she just does part time work to stay busy, she contributes to the savings account and some in the checking for help with bills. No set amount, just whatever she feels like each month.
I make enough to cover all the bills and also put some in the savings, plus have extra for whatever I want.
The only time she ever asked why I was doing something, was when I traded my less than two year old motorcycle in on a 9 year old motorcycle.
Other than that, 22 years of marriage and we are both happy.

While I agree with your sentiment, I don't know that we are getting the whole story.

My fiance actually bought me new headlights and a tonneau cover last christmas. I bought a bunch of shit for the truck this christmas and she was excited to see everything installed. Truly a keeper or elaborate ruse to keep me happy til we exchange vows? To be determined... :ballchain:

Seriously tho just buy the sliders, if she loves you all will be fine in the long run :stirthepot::crapstorm:

    True.

I mentioned in one post that if she's saying that he can't buy them because of other financial obligations, that's another story.

Without really knowing the OP and the whole situation, it's impossible to know for sure who's right or wrong.

The majority of men these days roar like lions in front of other men, but as soon as their wife is around they chill the fuck out.

I was married for a long time and that's how we handled it. We both had jobs so if the bills were paid, money put into savings and investments then we'd spend what we wanted, especially on fairly cheap stuff like sliders.

The whole happy wife happy life thing is just a hunk of bullshit. Shouldn't both people in a relationship be happy? Luckily for me my wife isn't terrible.

I think it's honestly bullshit, because sometimes they're never happy.

I know a few of these men that basically will spend the rest of their life working the plantation to keep them happy
