This is correct. While parked if you go to settings all the way on the right of the screen you can access lane departure and pre collision settings. I know you can adjust the sensitivity and set a different sensitivity for if you have been driving for a while. Volume should be under there.

I'm kind of curious myself at this point, still trying to figure everything out on the truck. I'll have a look later but if you find it first let me know.

I love asking questions like this on the forum. But at this point might be time to check your manual, they must tell you how to adjust if it’s an option.

LDA is NOT steering assist. It only lets you know you're being an idiot, not tries to fix your idiocy. However, it does have the pre collision system so if you veered out of your lane, it could still stop before you hit something :) The manual only says the following items are adjustable, but not the volume:

    Screen Shot 2019-12-29 at 8.12.25 AM.jpg

It's a safety feature, so it's either on or it's off. Could you imagine the flak Toyota would get (in the form of lawsuits) if the chime wasn't audible but the system was engaged and it contributed to a wrongful death?

The salesman explained to me that the Tacoma, (and other trucks) don't have steering assist. His explanation was that if you were towing a trailer you don't want the steering to suddenly jerk to one side or another. That could cause the trailer to begin to sway and fish tail. I'm not sure that it's true that no trucks have steering assist but the swaying trailer does make sense to a point.

You are the one who sounds immature to me . You buy a truck without checking the features and then get on here and start complaining about it .

Ha! Another rude comment ... I did check it before I bought it, but what my complaint is - is that now that I have had it for a bit I am realizing that the beep is too quiet to be heard unless the cabin is pretty quiet & there is apparently no way to turn it up that I can see, so I thought I would ask in this forum to see if anyone knew something I didn’t about turning it up, just in case I missed it!

But, I suppose your right ... anyone who buys a vehicle and then afterwards recognizes little things that they would like to change & asks about it is seriously immature. Cuz, you know, hardly anyone does that!

Close, I knew it had Lane departure warning and - afterwards thought it might have steering assist (and hoped it did) and was asking if it was in the settings somewhere that I didn’t see where you could turn it on ... HOWEVER, the main question was about turning the volume up on LDW?

From the manual. As you can see there are three volume levels which are adjusted using the "multi-information display" and not the " multimedia system"

Also the toyota website and your vehicles ebrochure and user manual also explain what LDA is and its capabilities.

Bummer! So i guess then it is either on/off & if it’s on there is only the 1 default volume setting which is very quiet!

Eh, did you go play around in the truck? I quit reading the thread when the gatekeeping started. Mine was pretty loud, enough to annoy so I suspect there's an adjustment. I've not been back to my truck yet to look for you; It's monsooning out and it's a lazy sunday morning with the wife and son.

Well done, that's the effort and community that's needed here.

I haven’t had a chance to get back in my truck since I first posted this question. I will later this afternoon though. I do have some slight hearing loss, so I can hear the beep if the cabin is quiet ... but if passengers are talking I cannot hear it very well & if I happen to be listening to music I definitely cannot hear it. That’s why I was hoping there was a way to turn it up!

Ah, and if your loss is, say, in your left ear and the beep output is from left front only, well damn... lol

I know this doesn't help you but mine is plenty loud even with my music being loud. Not deafening by any means but loud enough for it to catch my attention immediately.

Might be worth calling a dealer and seeing if they can adjust via programming or something.

Ah yeah, i was surprised to find in the manual that there are several things that the dealer can change that you can't. Some are useful in commercial applications like turning off the remote key functions, etc.

On an un-related point ... I just noticed that when you remote start the truck the climate control fan does not stay on high, but is now in the very low speed position. So much for defrosting my windshield before I jump in ... lol.

Fan speed is relative to available heat or cooling. It's only going to blow hard enough to make use of the heat it has to work with at the moment. The truck has to idle longer to warm up to what you're expecting and it won't warm up too quick at idle. Vehiclea are worlds better these days though about warm up times. It's actually for emissions purposes, the sooner your get to operating temp, the sooner you enter closed loop fuel control, the cleaner you can run. It's one side effect of emissions control that people don't whine about.

Other notes: the heated seats will remain on the last setting, so when you hop out the night before, remember to set the seat on and temp to hot and defrost on before you kill it. Plus, any load on the engine will make it work harder and heat up faster, no matter now minor or negligible the effect may be.
