Would you usually take a charger on a field trip?
If it’s 120 why would you.
    Spare batt yes.
Did you use a back pack or swap to a different one?

Very cool! Fantastic grouse hunting up here as well. Had to put my GSP down about a year ago (had them since 2000). This was my first season sans dog since then. It's just not the same. Used mine for waterfowl too. Puppy is in order soon.

Grouse = Shot on the wing
    Paaaatridge = Ground Swiped

I've not shot a bird on the ground/in a tree in 20+ years.

    Yeah sure, you betcha!

Few years back took my then pup to the annual Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever National Specialty over in Wi. Met this guy

His plates said that he was an "Uplander" so I made the comment about how Mn. is the first place I have hunted grouse where most of the hunters were road hunters. He immediately tightened up on me and said that Maine has a long standing history of road hunting also. Told me he drives the logging roads, sees a grouse gets out to shoot it and sends the Toller after it to bring it back to him. OK then... LOL

Good luck with the new pup, you know if you got one right about now it would be ready for next year to get bird exposure :D

A tired but happy dog back at the cabin

Even though I hunt a Toller don't really waterfowl anymore unless I get pulled in the SD waterfowl lottery. I hunt phez with some other retired Navy guys there the Admiral ended up buying a house in SD for hunting.

Been around the Breed for almost 30 years now. Yeah I know toliets flush and real bird dogs point. My first real bird dog was a Ryman Setter and a few years back tried to go back to a pointy dog, he was a rescue Lew.

Huge distance runner which is fine for phez, he pointed these for me

But in the grouse woods drove me nuts having him out that far even with the Garmin Alpha. Just too many wolves here highest density of wolves in CONUS. He ended up going to a dentist in ND that hunts from horseback and everyone is happy.

Hope we get to see some puppy pics from you soon!

I remember some 30 plus years ago working as an electrician in Phoenix Arizona and having to work in the attics during the Summer . It would be 120° outside so you know it was 130° plus in those attics . I don't miss that fun one bit anymore LOL!!!

Rob .... enjoy your time with your Grandkids !!!
