    Hey I thought mine was doing this downhill in third or whatever gear, it’s actually something to do with the emissions system. Keeping something warm or cool I can’t remember, but it’s normal.

    Every transmission that has ever slipped in my lifetime exhibited symptoms when accelerating, putting a load on. Not letting off the accelerator.

    Work in progress...
    It is the Atkinson Cycle engine I think. When the load is taken off, the Atkinson cycle does what saves gas.

    To me it sounds like the converter being unlocked. There's a thread around here where OVTune talks about some of the sorcery of the stock converter programming and how some people misinterpret the converter locking and unlocking as gear shifts

    I think it would have to be really low for that to affect shifting. These things hold over 11 quarts.

    I would be extremely surprised if anything mechanical was wrong with it. My guess is it's nothing, or at worst a software update.

    I was wondering how a downhill slip happens too. If the transmission is actually slipping, it'll slip under heavy load/acceleration. Sounds to me like the auto downshifting.

    If you are in cruise control it will down shift to maintain speed and rpm will climb, going down hill. Sometimes it will do it without cruise.

    How familiar are you with damper lockup torque converters(a.k.a. slip controlled, half-lock, partial lock, flex lock)?
    How about transmission programming coupled to engine intervention programming?

    What are the average temps these transmissions run? Just hooked my ultragauge and was surprise that the trans temp was ave 180°. Is that normal for these?

    Just got the truck back from Toyota and I quote! "Shifting of the fluid causing NO fluid to be getting in the line causes shift issues to happen". Can't make this stuff up and they actually put it on my service invoice.
