Our hood strut kits for the 3rd Gen Tacoma have completed prototyping, and are now in production and available for purchase. Kits ordered now will be shipped in early to mid-January.

To sweeten the deal for you having to wait, we are putting the kits on a 10% off sale, valid now through end of Dec 31. Use coupon code H82W8 at checkout.

If you're not familiar with the Spiker Engineering hood struts, we have been making the unique "high lift" hood strut kits for the 4Runners and 1st and 2nd Gen Tacomas for a long time.

These are the only kits available that allow you to set your hood height up to 6" higher than stock, giving you unparalleled access and lighting, not to mention saving you from banging your head against the open hood if you're over 6' tall.

To emphasize, you do not have to set the height higher than stock, you can choose whatever height suits you. Check out the beauty of the high lift hood capability and comparison to stock height:

As with all our kits, all components are made in the USA, down to the shipping tubes. All hardware is included, consisting of heavy gauge gloss black powder coated brackets, heavy duty multi-grip rivets, and OEM quality high lift gas struts with an industry leading 5 year warranty. And our pricing is more than competitive with other similar kits.

Doesn’t look like much prototyping, just looks like copying of redline.

They are obviously similar in that they both use hood struts and mounting brackets, just like 99% of all hood struts out there.

Our kits allow you to raise the hood 6" higher than stock prop rod or the Redline kits, which is especially helpful on the 3rd Gen Taco with its anemic stock open height. Not only that, our kits allow you to vary the open height to your liking during installation. And yes, that does take quite a bit of prototyping to get right.

Does the higher opening interfere with Caliraised ditch light brackets and light kit?

In trucks with ditch lights, we recommend setting the hood height to just below where the ditch lights will interfere with the hood. Here's an example on a 2nd Gen:

unfortunately it looks like this would interfere with my aux fuse/relay box. Any picture of the exact hole it mounts to under the hood, driver side?

The kits does not use existing holes, it requires drilling new holes for brackets under the plastic trim piece:

Yea, a day late again Brother. Wish I had known about these sooner. My Redlines have been in the garage since before Xmas.

    Thanks for the tag though.

Question: After installation do the plastic trim pieces go back on?

Yes, the plastic trim piece goes back in place after the strut brackets are installed.

Awesome thanks. It probably would have been obvious when actually doing the work - I just didn't see it in the PDF.

Good eye, the instructions do not specifically state to reinstall the trim piece. I'll add that step, to make it clear!
