This reminds me of a Saturday Night live episode where the airbags where jiffy pop popcorn bags.

But In all honesty, either to hard of a nose dive or putting yourself on such a tilt could cause this.

No I have not had it happen and have been pretty sideways.

Or is this just fishing discussions I wounder

They didn't yesterday but could have. Was trying to position myself around a tight corner to avoid a fairly large rock coming out of a little creek. Muddy boot slid off brake pedal and onto the gas. Right into the rock i was trying to avoid. Bags didnt go but posed a good question to "what if"

Oh I did that on purpose. Rammed into rocks, came down hard onto rocks. It happens. Pull the air bag fuse before you hit the trails if you are worried about it.

Braking with the left foot and gas with the right might be a good skill to learn.... rally drivers use this so they can brake and accelerate at the same time, or steer with the brake. Might help avoid foot slippage in the future.

Are the sensors an inertia type? If so, you have to be going XXmph w/an extremely fast deceleration. If you're doing, say 10mph, & instantly stop they shouldn't go off. If you're doing, say 25mph or faster, they go off. Old style senors were in the bumper & were a compression type that no matter how fast you were going, if the front penetration was so deep ( :rimshot: ) then they'd go off.
