    I figured it out as soon as I posted asking for help i just was pulling at straws before pulling the motor again. On the bright side i can pull the motor real quick now

    It was my first time mating an auto tranny. I much prefer manuals for pretty much everything but I Will admit autos for the most part are the future

    Does anyone on here run a TD04 turbo on their build? If so how did you get the coolant to the turbo and where did you return it to?

    Kinda stock
    You can use the coolant loop from the throttle body and EGR. Also could splice a T at the heater core.

    I tapped into the heater core. Don't use plastic T's. I just ordered some metal one that I think some ford's use. 5/8x 3/8. I did just notice the I have a leak at the valve. Hopefully that plastic isn't degrading as well.

    What are the likely places that I was able to dump over a quart of oil out of the turbo in 5 miles and then it stops? I still had oil and topped off. Was fine after that. Probably shouldn't have continued to drive it with it leaving a smoke cloud that would make a diesel proud but it was Christmas and I had places to be.

    My first thought was that my oil return was clogged up but I just pulled it apart and it's clean. I will say that it was a cold morning. Temps were probably near single digits. I suppose something could have been frozen.

    So how many places is it possible to dump that much oil in such a short time and then it stop and be seemingly fine?

    If you were smoking out the tailpipe, I'd say oil had to be leaking past the seals into the exhaust housing. Your guess of a clogged return line sounds plausible if it was single digits. It could have had some condensation that froze and clogged it. Once the engine bay warmed up enough, it would melt, and the problem would clear itself.

    That's my best guess as to what happened for now. Decided to pull it all apart and inspect things.


    Found this. Not sure if it's from it being on fire or if it got that hot.

    Looks to just be deteriorating. What wrap did you use? I’d bet past the seal too

    I wouldn’t use heat wraps on anything in a snow state. It traps moisture and causes crevice corrosion in cold weather states. It’s also notorious for shortening life of headers.

    Mild steel is my hypothesis. Only ever seen mild steel flanges crumble apart, in that exact same manner.

    As for the smoke show, that is something else.

    I believe the pipe is stainless. The flanges is definitely not.

Plasti-dipped upper fenders and emblems. satin black spray paint here and there inside and out. 5100's set to 1.75" up front . C channel front bumper. Maxxis bighorn 255/85/16
