Slimline/Low Profile bumper other than SSO?

Strategic logo placement on our part.

 

Install was super easy and very clean. Fits like a glove....

 

What was the most challenging part of the install? Looks great!!!

 

The most challenging part of the install? To be honest, it was SUPER simple. Everything came apart and went together perfectly. The most time consuming part was drilling out the three aluminum rivets and that took 2 minutes?

I was done with the whole project in about 2 hours.

What I like about this bumper is how close it is integrated into the front end and doesn't stick out much.

What rivets did you have to drill out? That wasn’t in the install video? I don’t remember at least LOL

 

The crash bar has two brackets that are riveted into it and angle backwards and outwards towards each tire. There is a 10mm coarse threaded bolt at the end of them that holds the front plastic corners in place. In order to get the crash bar out, you have to drill three rivets out in order to clear the opening. Its in the video, but they already did it so they mention it in passing.

If anyone has any questions about the SOS Concepts Streamline bumper don't hesitate to ask either on here or PM.

I saw a couple remarks about rolling to follow the contours of the opening. That sounds great in theory but buying the equipment needed to roll 3/16" steel is huge and very very expensive, or if done by hand takes entirely too much time and you wouldn't want to pay the premium for that.
Also yes our instructions are not the best it's something that we are going to be working on for all of our products.

 

Ya know... seein how da' title of this thread is "Slimline/Low Profile Bumper Other than SSO" and I bought a Victory 4x4 Slimline bumper, put it on, and then posted a couple of pictures of it and IMMEDIATELY the thread is hit with TWO posts promoting SSO Slimline bumpers...

Kinda makes you wonder, does everyone over at SSO and/or everyone who owns an SSO bumper have SMS (yea, I may need to spell that out for some of us: Small Man's Syndrome...)?

I just received the DV8 low profile bumper. Will install in the next day or so. Got it from eBay fit 345. Construction and quality looks good.

 

Whats your suspension setup? Love how your truck sits, bumper looks great too. Any side shots of how far it doesn't stick out?

 

Thanks... I'm running Bilstein 8112s with Camburg UCAs in the front and Bilstien 5160s with Wheelers 3 pack AAL in the rear for a total of 2" lift....

As far as the bumper sticking out... I don't currently have a picture but I can tell you it's really tight up against the chin --very similar to stock. I'll try and get a picture today for ya...

 

Can't believe 3 pages of this and nobody said anything about SSO Slimline bumper.

Installed last weekend.

 

Took some more pictures of the Victory 4x4 Slim Line bumper for ya...

Anyone ever hear the ole sayin: "Shit, the more you stir it, the more it stinks..." or perhaps "those in glass houses should not throw stones" ? I'm beginning to think that this might apply here... Was trying to be "polite", but there's another ole sayin.... sometimes, "A man's gotta know his limitations..."

So to the SSO bumper since there seems to be those who consistently want to insist on bringing it up... The reason I choose not to go with that particular bumper is quite frankly I think it looks like total garbage. It's too wide, it sticks out too far in front on the truck thereby decreasing your approach angle, you have to unnecessary cut the stock bumper and put some Autozone door protector trim on it (because it sticks out too far), the angles on the taper sides look wrong, and finally the round tube over the top and in front of the grill not only looks like an after thought, it doesn't match any of the lines on the rest of the truck...

Now, many are going to criticize the Victory 4x4 bump solely on the fact that the logo is dead center of the bumper --and to be fair that is a just criticism. However, over all I would argue that the Victory slimline bumper is better product in that it fits tighter to front of the truck, it doesn't detract from your overall approach angle, it is a precision designed and fitting product, the angles follow the design of the truck, and there is no after thought of like "oh, yea let's add some kind of round bar in the front..."

In the end... to each there own and let's please try and be respectful of other people's decisions. Remember, its not always a good idea to follow the masses as they often tend to be asses....

 

That is a very nice looking front bumper.

 

Everyone has a right to their opinion. However, the statement above just isn't true.

Compare the photos below. The Victory sticks out more, albeit barely. Additionally, the approach angle is not improved or harmed by either bumper.

 

what lift and tires?

 

Thing I liked about the Warn one was no cutting required, if you add the extra reinforcements then a couple slots are cut in an area in the bottom that would be covered by the center facia anyways if you want to go back to stock.

The hoop would interfere with the Pro's lower TSS height on the grill.

But since I have a 17, not an issue for me..

 

I like the Warn, but that hoop is a hot mess for pro grilles.
