I'm on "Friendly Metal Detecting forum" myself.

Been some time since I posted. I've been pretty busy, more than I would like to say and niece me it's NOT a made-up excuse. Pretty depressed right now for sure. I was helping my sister every weekend take care of our mom. Did that for about 11yrs. Now my mom just recently passed.

Anyways, busy for sure. At least I have a hobby I like to take my mind off of things.

Anyways, sorry for that, like I said, busy and now sad.:(:pout:

    Sorry for your loss, condolences.

I figure if I keep busy, I dont have time to be sad other than I dont have enough time.

Thank you for the kind words.

Yeah, I plan on swinging the coil soon as well as some astronomy related stuff I also like to do.

I had a "moment" today thinking about her. Her funeral is Jan 4th of next year.

But yeah, trying not to think about it, if you know what I mean?

It takes time, Ive been there...My mom has been gone just over 24yrs, you take it day by day at first then week by week. Soon it turns to years. Just keep the fond memories alive, but dont try to live in the past. Bout all the advice I can give.

What Hobbs said is on point.:fistbump:

I started out with a Garrett ACE250. I just bought it because for YEARS I've always been interested with MD'ing.

Now, it's been since around 2006 since then?

Anyways, watch YT vids about how to dig a proper "plug".

When joining forums, sometimes you will come across MD'ing zealots. o_O Meaning, it's like a di** measuring contest on, "my detector is better than yours because..." and the shi* just gets old after a while. Me, I like Garrett only because I'm used to it!!! Other than that, Minelab, Tesoro, Whites, etc are ALL good MD'ers. Some are better at finding certain things than others.

Also, some people like "tone only" heaters. Me, I like a detector that gives more information. Not necessarily all the time accurate, but it gives you an idea.

Finally, the one thing I find people making the BIGGEST mistake, it's when they buy a really, REALLY EXPENSIVE machine, I'd say +$500 machines, and they get SUPER FRUSTRATED when finding only beaver tails/pop tops, bobby pins, and foil.

Do NOT go into this hobby ever, EVVVVER thinking you're going to find something cool and expensive.

What's the saying, ... well, too graphic of a saying HAHAHA, just go into it as a hobby and enjoy.:fistbump:

    Happy Hunting \_

Thanks guys, it really means ALOT to me.

I do have my heater in the front of my storage unit along with my gear. I've been busy rearanging my room along with many other things. So taking it out would only get in the way right now.

Anyways, I mostly beach hunt now, soft sand hunting, but a few posts back I was talking about a park I've been wanting to hit. I just passed up that same park a couple days ago... never forgot about it. Plus, just this morning while running some errands, there's an elementary school I'm thinking about hitting as well.

Good spots, if you live near a high school, detect along the edges of the football fields because, well here in Cali at least, people LOVE playing soccer on the weekends and that means droppings!!!

It's how I found my FUGLY 925 Silver "toe ring"?
